Still little explanation from Gordon Smart about their previous reports on how Chris Moyles would lose the job every 6 months between 2008 and 2011

In the same way that Piers frigging Morgan made a 'career' out of getting people to take his photo standing near celebrities so that he could pretend he was on speaking terms with thie, I think the explanation for that is that 'celebrity' / 'entertainment' type leeches' only 'talent' is to associate themselves with newsworthy people and steal a living by stirring up controversy and making mountains out of molehills.

If you spread enough shit, some will stick. Even stopped clocks are right twice a day.

Great news if it is true so therefore will still have my fix of the good ol Chris Moyles show for another couple of years. Archive will be bloody massive by then but then again, it is that at the moment.

Even though it's in The S*n, it has named sources, which is always encouraging.

how original, first line... MOTORMOUTH :?

but fantastic news, don't get the argument about being too old, and 10 years would be a great way to bow out.... hopefully not to Cotton as mentioned in the article though

Be fair to Morgan though, he did , according to his published 'diaries', manage to have tea with Prime minister Tony Blair at number ten some 7 months before Blair was elected PM.
That takes some talent.

The above news does explain Chris playing a bit humble & going on about his mundane day rearranging his clothes & trying to act the sad sap at the start of todays show. You could almost hear him repressing a laugh while he did so.

That's what I thought too, it's just as well I have plenty of space on my server :) But yeah, it's ace news.

According to that Sun article:

Fearne Cotton, who follows Chris at 10am on weekdays, has also been talked about as a contender

Who are these people talking about Fearne Cotton being a contender for the breakfast show? I demand you reveal yourselves so we may ridicule your stupidity.

If Fearne actually did take over as breakfast host, she won't be on it half the time like it is with her current mid-morning show. Some people outside these forums etc moan about the amount of holidays Chris gets etc but the difference between him and Fearne is that he only uses those holidays to be off the show apart from certain circumstances like last September whereas she has her holidays and is off when she is to do a tv show or whatnot. Chris does a TV show and has to do filming, which go on for hours it seems and I am sure at times he just can't be bothered coming in the next day but he does it for us and because he loves doing it. How many weeks does Chris and that get off each year in Radio 1 even though a few of them are freelance? I think it's 6 or so believe. I get 6 weeks holiday off my place each year so it's not THAT bad.

Although saying that, I think she has been better with being on the show lately than last year etc since it seemed like it was every month she was off a week and Sara Cox or Annie Mac had to fill in. Ok, Fearne rant #1244 over and done with.

Newsbeat pretty much confirms that story then, which is just swell news. Like I said already on this thread, archive is going to be massive when the big man finally steps down.

Christ this story is actually confirmed by a R1 spokesman...and the Sun to calling Chris a superstar DJ!

Delighted for Chris and the team, they really deserve to keep the gig and its great to be able to listen to Moyles in the morning for another 2.5 years. He's clearly still just as arelevant to a young audience today as he was in 2004. Definetly the right call by BBC management to keep him at R1 until 2014. It also means the team have plenty of time to work on a plan to "go out with a bang!"

Woo & * Hoo :D

So pleased to hear this, the show is still brilliant, still has life in it & in all honesty I just can't see who can replace him at the mo, even Capital (who used to be excellent) are poor now.

Great news indeed :)
