My memory does recall Dave earning approx £250,000 p/a.... Not sure where from, but its this figure on which i'm basing my opinion.

Are you Dave's accountant to 'know' that he earn's as you put it 'Shitloads of money' ??

Dave and Dom are family men maybe they do not live beyond their means like a lot do.

What the hell are you talking about? If Dave earns £250,000 or £500,000 in a year, at what point is that not shitloads? Do you earn more than that? And, no I don't believe everything I read, but that number was stated on the show.

How do you know these fact's about Dave's wages ?? I cannot believe this would be mentioned on the show.. a wind up maybe.

If you do not believe what AOL say's why put up a link from them ? You also must know what I earn .. you seem to know quite a lot !!

i'd imagine dave's R1 wage would be between £80-100k, with his private ventures (gigs, tv shows etc.) bringing in around £50k.

with him falling into the 50% bracket, a previous divorce and another on the way - along with having to pay a mortgage for a house, while paying for his own separate accommodation and a child...he's likely to want to save money at every opportunity. plus he's always been a tight get.

having said that Dave Vitty Management grosses £875,000 a year.

Reportedly he got £50k just for the DOI Tour. Plus the fee for the DOI TV + other appearances + 25+ DJ Gigs. It all adds up. Most of this new work came in recently, after he switched agents.

I don't begrudge Dave's earnings, good on him, but he's far from poor. And a tight git!

I don't think he does, I think he's just winding up his mate.

If I remember rightly, the debate about living on a certain amount of money was him saying he couldn't live in london on 16 (or thereabouts) grand a year. Now obviously you *can*, so it was a flippant sweeping statement.

250k? Was this before all Dave's relatively recent additional activities? What is Chris on, around 400k at present? I'd be amazed if Dave gets even a quarter of that from Radio 1. And I wouldn't have though the kind of DJ gigs that Dave does (uni's) paid highly. I can't think of a lot of Dave's work that has been officially released or repeated so unless he's a highly successful writer under a pseudonym, he's not going to be earning a lot from residuals - a little bit of PRS for the Parody Album, but what else. Unless he's got some investments or other business which he doesn't talk about on the air, I hardly think he's raking it in.

I hope I am not out of line here but Jayne used to do TV and maybe she still does? Does Dave have to pay the full mortgage? I would think 50% would be fair and then add alimony and support for Nicole. That doesn't make it much easier but it would be better than having to pay the full mortgage. I wonder where he is living now, in London? Any ideas?

My first reaction was that it's verging on disturbing mentalism, but hopefully it's just proof of how engaging and personable the people on the show are.

It's the kind of thing you'd think about a close friend or member of your family, so yeah, I think it is really :)

I think the debate about living expenses that a few people are recalling is one when Chris said that it was impossible to live on 10 grand a year. I started a thread on it at the time, so it will be searchable. That stemmed from a comment Aled made - it wasn't connected to Dave at all. But it was a fair indication of Chris's standard of living and what he thinks of as a reasonable wage.

Haha, I remember listening to that when I was stuck in traffic. I think there's another factor of your outgoings increasing in line with your earnings - no matter how many pay rises I've had (and having been in work for 20 years, there's been a couple), I always seem to have more or less the same amount of money to spend.

So If you're earning 100grand, living on ten *would* be impossible, because the memory of earning ten grand is a looong time ago (usually).

I think you also deem certain things as being 'essential' as you get older - you might share a flat when you're 18, but when you're 35 the thought of moving to a bedsit for more than a drunken couch kip would be unimaginable.
