There's no doubt it was a particularly nasty and unneccessary thing to say, which is why its upset a lot of people - I thought exactly the same thing, but I am never in favour of banning anyone just for being horrible.

I see other people being criticised but never seen a poster damned as much as I have just for an opinion!

I lost my father a while go as well. Just a bit longer than the period that's passed since Vitty lost his. I still maintain that if I left a tweet mentioning some ill-fortune and decided to chuck something in about my long-lost father I would be looking to add to my self pity. It doesn't mean anyone gets over such a loss but to bandy it around that for no reason well, you know what I think.

I wouldnt have banned you for the comment. I would consider banning you for the continual anti-Dave negativity you bring to the place. This is a fansite and you dont really come across as being a fan. It really does seem as if you have a particular reason for disliking Dave that extends beyond the radio show.

Nobody's looking to ban you for disliking him or for saying he's of no value to the show. Or, I certainly wasn't. That comment wasn't constructive criticism of the show or his writing - it was just nasty and unneccessary, and that's what has riled people. Even if you don't feel the same way about the loss of your father, when it comes to stuff like that you have to cut people some slack.

Guys & Gals, am I the only one that finds threads on the personal lives of the on air team very disturbing. As I mentioned in a thread on the private life of Chris last year, I think its frankly disgusting that a thread like this is allowed to drag on for so long when we all now the guys from show read this from time to time. Never mind banning members, who isen't the whole thread deleted?

Does tolerance of these type of comments paint the whole of cm.net with the same brush in my opinion- yes. Can't seem to be able to delete an account so all I'll say is cm.net, it was fun while it lasted but...I'm off.

In this case, Dave has made the details of his personal life (separation from Jayne, his dad's death etc) public, so he's opening them up for discussion. Apart from Dave Bedford, most people are discussing them out of concern and care for Dave, cos we're fans of the show. I wouldn't dream of deleting stuff like this.
