The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Given that i'm well beyond the target audience of Radio 1 it's no surprise that The Chris Moyles Show is the only thing i listen to on the station.
I started listening in the afternoon show days when i worked shifts in a factory that had very poor radio reception & Radio 1 was one of the only two or three stations that i was able to pick up. I had no idea who Chris Moyles was & remember tuning in , out of desperation because of the noise of the machines & expecting to tune out in a few minutes because of the music, but here i am still listening well over a decade later. I remember Aled's first day & thinking at first that it was actually Dave doing a comedy shy Welsh gay character . He was so nervous, quiet & introverted ( what happened ,Aled? ).

Theres been a few hiatuses & breaks mainly due to work patterns & changes of jobs etc, but i'm now able to listen every 2 weeks out of 3 (again due to shifts).
When i'm on a bus to work at 6.45 in the morning people think i'm the bus nutter due to the outbreaks of laughter & spluttering as i listen on earphones on my wee radio.

To sum up, when i'm heading to a long hard days graft working plastic injection moulding machines, or exhausted & drained at the end of a knackering nightshift, its Chris & team that give me something to look forward to & entertained when i might otherwise be miserable or tired.
And i think thats what they're aiming for.

I first got into Moyles by accident as well, I was 13 and couldn't sleep one night so turned on the radio, the choice was Heart 106.2's love songs, Kiss 100 playing some really shit hard house and Radio 1 of the time playing much the same as Kiss, however I tuned into Capital heard this rather jolly sounding chap giving abuse to some piss head on the Radio & the rest is history

Chris Moyles is definitely the best DJ out there by miles & the best Breakfast DJ (my favourtie breakfast DJ used to be Chris Tarrant but Moyles has since surpassed him, although I do on occassion listen back to the odd old Chris Tarrant show from the 90's from time to time) and I hope he is around until at least his Tenth anniversary on Breakfast.

When he's gone I'll have to go back & listen to all the classic shows because having briefly listened to several DJ's on other stations, 95% are dross & have no talent whatsoever.

That's a great little story. That's the way I found the tv show Peep Show back when it first started in 2003. Just flicking through channels one night then came across this interesting show that was entirely done in first-person and have people looking at the camera representing a person. Enjoyed it and haven't looked back. It's one of the few shows I watch on TV now alongside TV Burp, Apprentice, Graham Norton show etc.

Moyles is a fat talentless loudmouth Northern arrogant w*nker. Or so I keep hearing from people who have never heard his show.

I first started listening to him not long after he took over the afternoon slot, and haven't stopped since. Apart from the early couple of years of the Breakfast Show when it wasn't possible for me to listen because I was at work/on the way to work.

The only people who even come close tomatching my enjoyment of Moyles and the show in all my years listening to Radio are Nick Abbot circa 1993/94 on Virgin, Tommy Boyd in the Early days of Talk Radio (now talkSPORT) and an old bloke on local radio who I used to listene to who was great at what he did.

I complain about the show far more than I should but I absoloutely adore 90% of it and would miss it imeasurably, far more than I probably should as after all it is 'just' a radio show. But top marks to everyone on the show. I love it.

Just dont get me started on the golden hour 8O

My top 5 radio broadcasters -

1 - Chris Moyles
2 - Simon Mayo
3 - Chris Evans
4 - Steve Wright
5 - Mike Read

I love them all, but Moyles is easily the best.

Nick Abbot's show on Virgin. Now that was a classic show. Ah, the golden age of wireless.

Mine would be (in terms of shows, not broadcasters - hence I can get Mark Radcliffe in there twice):

  1. Chris Moyles
  2. Simon Mayo
  3. Colin Murray
  4. Mark and Lard
  5. Radcliffe and Maconie

He did a brilliant radio show... I was so disappointed when they stopped doing Steve Lamacq's show, but actually it turned out that Colin Murray's was a lot better.

Never listened to Colin's show when he was on Radio 1 since he was gone when I started listening to Chris in July 09. Thankfully, he does the Radio Ulster Late Night With... show on Fridays and really like listening to him there as he plays some recognisable tunes and some new stuff and introduced me to a few bands like The National. He does tend to play a few songs a bit too often but still enjoy his little links between songs especially when he could be talking about something random.

I like Colin's voice but maybe I'm biased since he's the same nationality! I find other DJs have more annoying voices.
