Aled's not strict. I'm not sure he's dim either, maybe a little straight and a little naive, but not dim.

Which can only be a good thing. More chat about lumberjackery and building fires would be a start.

Grrrr, men doing manly things.

To me, Rachel seemed like the strict older sister that you kind of hated but actually loved. I thought she was fantastic.

Aled, again, to me, has more the role of the idiot younger brother who has nothing in common with his siblings but has to be involved in everything despite not really getting what's going on. He talks way too much too - he must talk at least twice as much as Rachel did.

I'm sure some people like him, and I'd stick my head on the line to say it's probably women and younger teenagers who like him, perhaps because his campness, his liking of trash entertainment and his not understanding vital parts of the show (or even things everyone knows, like that nursery rhyme thing) doesn't grate as much as it does me, but as a straight male in my mid-twenties who has grown up with Moyles and Dave on the radio, frankly I have no interest in his life and I think he spoils the show.

Then again, listening figures seem not to care, and as I'm out of the target audience I suppose I don't matter.

As a woman he can annoy me more times than entertain me, it doesn't matter that he is gay as my best friend is a gay man. My best friend is more clued up on whats going on and wouldn't say as dumb things as aled sometimes does. Aled does a good job producing but i am now calling him "Airtime Aled" the more time he gets on the air the less we hear of Dave and Dom. We do have to address the male dominated line up, Sam is rarely on air and Tina isn't as involved as Carrie was. Tina does seem to stand back a lot where Carrie would jump in and join in the debate even if it went down the sexual innuendo route. Sam is a laugh on the air, she can play around with the team like one of the guys but having the air of authority that Rachel had.

EDIT: I forgot about the lesser extent of Matt Fincham So out of the team there is 5 guys to 2 women. I am not including the PAs who change on a daily to a weekly basis.

With respect, to me, that's absolute nonsense and reeks of someone in denial.

I'm a man, I'm considerably older than you, I despise trash entertainment, I go out binge drinking, womanising, brawling, occassionally I wrestle bears in my spare time, I drive fast, I smoke full strength Marlboro, I have loads of scars, in a former life I was a pirate and I think he's ace.

I admire Aled's humour, his ability to laugh at himself, his willingness to have a go at pretty much anything, and above all his thoroughness and expertise at his job of producing a radio show. The "lets pretend I don't get it" kind of scenario's used to annoy me, but they don't seem to happen any more. I think these days if he doesn't get something its genuine!

Mention this morning just after 9, to do with Aled, it was the 'Aaaanndi Peters' Royal music, asking people on here to leave him alone? Quite funny.

Agreed - everyone had moments like it, look at when Olly Murs was on and they ended up explaining the census.

I think that was more just Olly being a bit thick. Aled isn't thick, he just has gaps in his knowledge and experience!

That was a classic Dave moment wasn't it - Aled with his head in his hands and Chris in hysterics, Dave, speechless and sniggering with embarrassment.....great radio.

Oh yeah definitely. And we've heard him do that so many times before. And I'm now wondering why Sam hasn't announced it now that Dave has given it away

I heard him go "and on the day that Sam has an announcement...oh, she's definitely not leaving" at about 8.50am and then I arrived at work before they mentioned it again. Have they said anything more?

No. Just Dave saying that his birthday drinks are also Sam's leaving drinks at about 7.20 when he wasn't supposed to.
