It was to do with potentially moving to site to a Content Management Server. I don't really wanna go into more detail cos a) I don't particularly understand these things and b) the thread has been moved out of public view for a reason.

i'm just upset that his massive misunderstanding of how to interact with forum users has been removed - could have used that as a case study of why not to venture into social media if you're unaware of the arena.

I dont think Chris is particulary bothered at the moment. It works, it might not be great, but it works.....plus he has othering things on his mind at the moment.

Okay, thanks for responding to my questions everyone. Much appreciated. I'm pretty sure CMS is supposed to webmaster's lives easier, however I do understand the complexity and the wish to remain with the current system for the near future.

(oh and btw did anyone notice that CMS are also the same initals as a certain radio show?)

A good CMS is the webmaster's best friend. A crap one (like the rotting heap we're currently getting of at work) is a nightmare and time-waster for all concerned.

The use (or not) of a CMS is not an issue for anyone. The preservation of certain core elements of the site and the migration of the data into the new system are, however.
