Wasn't best pleased when I heard Olly's voice, but he was ok. No irrelevant interview and tedious link was funny. I'll take it.

That's my problem with him being on the show for this week, for a celebrity guest, he's already been on the show enough before being on every day for a week, he was on for over 2 hours on the marathon show FFS :D . I thought the show today was pretty dull, and I'm not sure how much of that was just due to being the first for 2 weeks. I don't think they really needed a replacement for Dave and to crowbar one in for a week just knocks the show sideways IMO. Even the most entertaining guests would start to grate after being on for too long.

Maybe the feedback they got proved Olly was a popular choice. I, for one, am not complaining :)

Wasn't today's show just like one massive extended guest interview, though? Not necessarily the teams fault - you bring someone new into the studio and the conversation naturally falls toward them. But today, I honestly felt Chris struggled and lapsed into easy piss-taking because he couldn't find anywhere else to go. The first link today was Chris talking about his tweets from last night and asking him what he was doing tonight, then they moved onto him playing the "what is Ant singing" game, then it moved onto talking about the lyrics to one of his songs, the relentless piss-taking all through the show (can Chris crowbar any more "Is Olly gay, ha-ha-ha" jokes in?) and then you move onto post-Tedious chat and I hear Chris asking him about his brothers and sisters and X-Factor. Too much, I'm sorry. And that would be the same with anyone they'd have brought in, it's not just Olly, but with him having already been on the show 3 times in less than 5 months, it's all a bit overload. It was only due to the regular features (Celebrity Raspberry, Pub Quiz, CFC) which broke it up. I shouldn't be too surprised, it's usual Chris Moyles "find something you like then repeat-repeat-repeat until everyone is sick of it" form.

I am loving how Chris is underlining how being forced to play a song before the 7 o clock news ruins the opening link.

Olly Murs is hilarious. It's like he's a newborn -- he knows nothing!

Chris is having a lot of fun playing with Olly's naivete. He's like the show's Karl Pilkington.

How in God's name did he not know what a census is? What kind of sheltered life has he been leading?

The first time I remember being aware of what a census was I reckon must have been my first ever Nativity Play!

That's no excuse! Even if you don't learn about them from the nativity as Yuds said, it's just a general cultural thing. Or is this just cos my dad's a genealogist? Other people in their 20s know what they are, right?...

I will be glad when Dave comes back. Olly is ok, but he is beginning to grate on my nerves. The census thing this morning was like, have you been living under a rock for the last couple of months. TV, Radio and newspapers have been about the census. 2 more shows of Olly then Dave is back. Realistically do you think that Chris and Olly will actually be going out buddies after the show is over? IMO NO.

I am an oldie and am surprised at what little the young folks nowadays know. Remember he lives at home so it's all done and he would have been very young when the last one was out. Not something you worry about at that age. As for the papers. I think he has been slightly busy for the last 2 years to worry about what's in them! So I think that is a bit harsh.

Secondly Chris and Olly have been out drinking several times. I can see that they will be friends. The team seem to love him and I think he has been great on the show. I do love Dave so I am not a Dave hater.

I think he's been rather good this week, why do people get so wound up now when someone doesn't know something they really should? I mean I was a little surprised that he didn't know what a Census was but it did make me chuckle, why do people get wound up with some ones stupidity?

I don't get wound up by other people's stupidity, but I do get wound up when people pretend to that kind of stupidity because they think it will make funny radio/TV/whatever. Aled used to do it a bit, not so much these days. Mills does it ALL the time. I don't think Olly was doing that though.

Pretty much my thoughts.

Olly seems like a lovely bloke, a genuinely nice guy, but this isnt working in my opinion. On the first day I thought he did well, and I still think he is, but the dynamic of the show is totally off kilter. Dom is trying to play a bigger part in the show and Aled is trying too hard.

I heard the first half hour today on the way into work and then tried on a couple of occasions to tune in when I got there but I found it uncomfortable to listen to so for the first time ever I actually chose not to listen to The Chris Moyles Show (other than The Golden Hour and the odd poor interview I have never, ever chosen not to listen).

Maybe I should have given todays show a bit longer but it just didnt feel right. When I did tune in I heard Chris repeatedly getting Dom to repeat some phrase about a toilet (I think) and then I heard a bit about the toilet tour. It all sounded terribly forced to me.

No criticism of anyone, by the way. I wasnt complaining when Olly was announced and I imagine they thought it was a calculated risk, but it hasnt quite worked for me. There is a massive difference between being a guest for a couple of hours and being a team member for 17 and a half.

That said, I will tune in again in the morning and give it another go.

I didnt hear the census thing but I do think that Olly has played up to image of being a bit dim though.

Regarding the census, it was amsuing to read someone attempt to justify Olly not knowing about the census because he has only been alive for two prior to this one! 8O This one was his third, and I dont think many of us on here have been alive for more than three or four yet I think we all know what a census is!!

He's 27. He would have been 17 when the last one was out - old enough to actively participate in giving answers about his religion and so on. (I had to look this up - I assumed from his demeanour that he was about 20.) I wouldn't say that his stupidity 'winds me up', but it did surprise me.

That's fair enough, the only person I think gets away with that is Alan Davies on QI but then again that's all part of the act on that show anyway, he's actually quite intelligent when you see/hear him on other things.
