It's strange, but in the afternoon I don't mind him at all, I will never be a fan but on 4-7 he is OK in my opinion. However on breakfast I just cannot abide the man and Becky and this Chris character.

The staged nature of the show and the appalling, over the top fake laughter at absolutely nothing at all, doesn't irritate me that much on drive, but in the morning it is unlistenable. He is just not a breakfast DJ as far as I'm concerned.

I do agree with you a bit there. He is much more suited on drive and I was a bit pissed off when he blatently made up that story about locking his mum in his house on Monday morning

If it was up to me it'd be Moyles in the morning and Mark & Lard for drive-time, if only

I just don't get why he's so eager to play songs so often, for someone who was once touted as the next breakfast show at one point I have to wonder how the bosses supposedly came to that conclusion.

Parfitt, Cooper, honestly now don't let Moyles go, keep him for as long as you can because the station is going to be tedious once Chris goes.

I like Radio 1 and when Moyles is on I tend to listen for the rest of the day, but when he isnt on I dont really listen at all. It isnt a conscious decision, but Chris draws me in to the station and without him I do tend to forget about it.

I'm sure that they make regular visits to this site and will take your comments on board... :)

Well in the last few years, yes. I remember when he first came to R1 though, he was different - much more relaxed, less self conscious, less fake - he was good. And for all that I dislike him as a broadcaster now, he was the best Chart Show presenter they've ever had.

Agreed, I had a Saturday job when Moyles' Saturday show used to be on, Mills followed afterwards and was exactly as you said, I really don't know what's happened to him but he seems to nervous to even talk on air most the time.

I don't listen to him often, but occasionally it's nice to see whether he's gone back to being as good as he used to be (he never does). I think he does fully deserve the abuse.

Agree!

I don't think he is intolerable, but put it this way; Scott Mills on Breakfast:it's not what I want to hear first thing in the morning.

Been listening to KISS this week, it plays lots more music (but then again, pretty mcuh anyone does), however, I do find that show a bit 'loud' and 'in your face', with presenters that are too 'excited and speak very energetically.Plus, there are too many IDs with 'Ricky, Melvin and Charlie in the morning', being played at least every 5 mins.

Haters gonna hate :D

But seriously though, I think a lot of the commercial stations are terrible, compared to what's on the BBC.

Funny thing is if you got back about 15 years the commercial stations were better than Radio 1 at times (well in London at least, Tarrant used to always beat Radio 1 in the mornings, Virgin was a good station then, Kiss 100 played more music than adverts and even Heart was bearable back then).

I will say on a positive note for Mills - well done to him for the documentary 'The world's worst place to be gay' - very enlightening and hard hitting. To think that a country uses its newspapers to 'out' ordinary people and brand them evil is disgusting in my view

I listened to part of his Monday podcast today. It does keep me entertained, but it does annoy me how staged the show is. For example, Beccy telling scott that for Show And Tell she doesn't have actual things, but has audio clips for him, which he obviously already knew about and had in the system ready to go. Had that happened on chris' show, it'd probably start with chris saying dave had some audio clips for him and asking what they're about then chris saying something along the lines of 'right, so its this one here aled? right, i'm gonna play it.' Works much better - no obvious fakery, no dishonesty.

Sara Cox is my favourite stand-in. When chris is off but the rest of the team isn't, it should always be her. No idea what she'd be like without a team though. Anybody listen to her show?

I've heard bits of her show. Nothing special but still entertaining

She's good, even withut a "team" - she tends to bounce off whoever is in the studio, but she is still excellent even on her own. I can see why some people would find her irritating though - but personally I love her.

I think it's the fact that him and Becky act like 2 school girls sat on the back of the buss irritatingly giggling over nothing amusing.
I can not stand Becky's voice it just makes me want to punch her in the face, and 'the posh radio 4 lady' reading pointless letters and what the hell is PR4L supposed to mean? they dont even explain the stupid features they use on there dire show so practically no one has a clue what there rambling on about.

And the fact that they have had to get Scotts mate Chris in as a full time team member says it all really, as he is probably the most entertaining character.

btw, I did enjoy Scotts TV doc, worst place to be gay, he was good in that.

4 more shows of Mills to go before Chris comes back. I hope this week passes quickly.
