On Wednesday 16th March 2011 Chris Moyles and Comedy Dave will be attempting to break the world record for the longest show ever on Radio One. Starting when Chris & Dave start, and working while the team are on-air, Vivoo Creative will attempt to completely redevelop and redesign chrismoyles.net in aid of Comic Relief and in support of Chris Moyles and Comedy Dave's record attempt.

Throughout the process the design team will be tweeting news of their progress and hope to have the new site completed before Chris & Dave finish their show. While everyone is hard at work the old site will still be here so that you can follow Chris and the team (as well as our website redesign) on our forum and in our chatroom.

We have never asked for donations to the site from visitors, but we would like to give you the opportunity to make a contribution to Comic Relief and support this effort by donating here.

Does that mean that the site won't be available during the marathon show?

Nice one.... will be very interesting to see what changes they make.

Yudster - I'm kind of hoping they possibly create a mirror site to show what it would like like and leave this place as it is just now. Will have to see what Chris says.

Edit: Just found this : http://www.vivoocreative.co.uk/2011/03/ ... f-attempt/

On Wednesday 16th March 2011 from 6:30am Chris Moyles and Comedy Dave will be attempting the break the world record for the longest show ever on Radio One during this time Vivoo Creative will attempted to completely re-develop and re-design The Chris Moyle shows number 1 fan site http://www.chrismoyles.net in aid of Comic Relief and in support of Chris Moyles and Comedy Dave’s record attempt.

And of course we will have Chris & Dave on the radio the whole time!

Throughout the process we will tweet of our progression and keep everyone updated, we hope to have the site up and online after 37 hours and before Chris & Dave finish their very very long show!

If we manage to raise £1000 for Comic Relief that would be a huge bonus!

Not sure what they mean by "hope to have the site up and online after 37 hours"... makes me think we'll be fine here until after they finish their world record breaking show.

Speaking of us during the show, is there going to be like a 'Official Live Marathon Show Chat Thread' thing set up, 'cause that would be quite cool...

We don't need any more threads about it do we?! I hope this site doesn't get overwhelmed with newbies during the 37 hours with loads of posts and everything cause it will be too much to keep up with.

Also, what if we don't like the new design?

Why even though I have read this thread does it keep appearing as not red? Its really not helping my OCD.

Oh and its a great idea and I will donate of course...

I think its because Chris edited the first post with the point that this site will still be here. It should show as read again now

It will be business as usual.

Excellent, thanks Chris - in that case, I'm in.

Ok - hold on, hold on - I just looked at the designers site and saw the new logo - its absolutely AWFUL. Really really bad. That needs to be changed straight away, its truly poor. If they think that is a decent caricature representation of Chris we really are in trouble.

Hold on a minuet
Where does it say this is the new logo for chrismoyles.net?
Nothing is being done until 6:30am on the 16th of March, this is mealy advertisement to get people aware, in addition we did not even design this, we used it with the owner permission for advertisement, and the designer spent many hours designing this!

I would like to introduce myself, I am Creative Director at Vivoo Creative with personally over 8 years design and development experience but 64 years between my team, me and my team design for numerous brands, the public sector and private sector on a daily basis, and I must be honest this is not the support I was expecting, especially when me and one of my guys are taking a minimum of 37 straight hours out of our work schedule to re-design and re-develop your fan website for Comic Relief and in support of Dave and Chris, some support and input would be very much appreciated!!!

To those offering to donate thank you very much, this really motivates us and would appreciate you spreading the word.

A website like this to have re designed can take anything from 7 working days to 6 weeks, we are putting our skills to the limit, we work on tight deadlines anyway and this will be the tightest! We will have the website up and running after 37 hours but before Chris and Dave finish, which we do not know when that is so we are just aiming for 37 hours.

Also, what if we don't like the new design?
Give us your input, reply with some site you like the look, style, navigation, layout of etc tell us what you like, any ideas you have and all will be taken into consideration.

We are doing this for Comic Relief and you, so please, show your support.

Care to share your designs? You design experience? As well as where it says this is the chrismoyles.net logo?

yikes. clearly social media and pr aren't skills you're well versed in.

a quick note, the internet is a fickle place : where first impressions are very important, and if you're from the designers (which it sounds like you are) then you'll want to be VERY careful when it comes to representing your brand, and how you interact with what are in effect the customers of the forum.

as it is, there's a definite vibe of a spoilt child who can't take criticism - and is keen to wave their wang of experience around in order to assert a superiority based on 'time in the biz'.

Actually we are highly skilled in social media, not a fan of criticism though when we are prepared to give up our time for a good cause.

Thanks

As mentioned, it is not our design but we have permission to use it for our advertisement, just think the comments regarding it was very harsh.

Thanks.

sorry, i didn't read this before.

thank you for qualifying yourself with experience, but it's quite arrogant to use this to qualify yourself as being worthy of immunity from criticism (which HAS been the case, as the 2 cases of feedback have been met with ferocious defence).

for a design company, charity work is mainly goodwill - but also partly as a PR exercise, so please don't tell the people of the forum that you're doing them a favour and to be grateful. i'd seriously consider your approach when it comes to interacting with your audience, because YOU are still working for a client [albeit, for free].

the primary need of the client is to please the audience.

all in all, review your communications/feedback strategy.

Well, this is interesting.

Great idea to do this, fantastic effort for a good cause.

Anyway.

Things I like and would like to keep.

The General & lets get ready to ramble threads, as this is where most posting is done, and it means you can navigate with the "go" at the bottom rather than using " show new posts"

Having lots and lots of subject related "headers" although logical, makes navigation harder I feel.

Also you won't please everyone on here, and the usual restrained nature of face to face "appraisal" of work will not apply. Yudster has over 90 years of unproven criticism and cynical statement of opinions as facts behind her, but we still love her lots.

Although if you want pure naked madness seek out a "viv" on Unoffical Mills, she was tweeting Mills yesterday with such delightfull "tweets" as " WHO CARE ABOUT YOUR PANCAKES"

You seriously have a problem.

Because of the comments I was mealy explain our experience to give the users faith. Nothing else.
And we are doing this for the forum and for Comic Relief, and thought hey why don't we do this when Chris and Dave do there 37 hour support as were avid fans of Chris Moyles and the show.

Please stop questioning our motives this is ridiculous.

Thanks
