The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

As soon as I heard the news I started making plans to take a couple days off to listen/watch/upload. Then I found out that my group bookings partner has snapped his Achilles tendons playing rugby. BALLS.

Shifts!

I thought some of the hardcore would be up for a 37 and a bit hour stint in the chat room :)

Liking the idea! Sounds like a lot of thought and planning has gone into making this happen too. Here's a thought.. i wonder what the Thursday breakfast show will be like. By the opening link, they'll have nothing left to say to each other. xD

Liking this big trumpetty backing jingle. Not heard this before, i don't think. Is this an old one or a new one?

EDIT:

*clicks submit*
Chris: I'm loving this new bit of music by the way!

Right, that's that question answered then.

Ah so I was nearly right.... 37 hours is more than enough though, 160+ would have been suicide. Impossible even, I'll venture.

Great, a 3.5 hour show doesnt last me all of my 9 hour day anymore.

Good job i've got a digital radio recorder on my computer and a 2tb hd, can save it all to help me get through work.

I would consider myself a fan of Chris but

1. They will do this as a duo. As I remember Mayo was on his own for the duration whereas they will have each other. Surely thats not breaking the same record.

2. They just want to beat his record by 5 minutes! If they did 38 hours it would be more respectable and set an example for the next person to break their record in years to come?[1]

3. Also I liked the comedic ways they were already trying to work around the rules such as wearing sunglasses. I'd also like to what was the longest break Mayo accrued. I think was mentioned they must take breaks at the same time which would seem fair if its considered a joint effort.

4. I couldn't find any reference to Mayos dj marathon(was it officiated?) and the 'rules' on the guiness record website. Does anyone have the info. Wikipedia is a bit scant.

[1]looking forward to Dev breaking the 38 hour record in 2013

Mayo also had the other presenters of the various shows, as Chris and Dave will if I remember rightly... it's still staying on air for a silly amount of time, which is what the record is.

I think that's just part of the humour of it because lots of people when they break records they want to smash them, not just edge past the previous one.

I linked to a BBC article before they announced it:
Topher wrote:Simon Mayo did do it, but it was "only" 37 hours. 126 hours is a silly record to break though..

For all his talk about finding ways to get around the rules and cheat, I don't believe that Chris would want that. He'll chat about it and pretend, but I think he'll want to do this properly. And I am sure that he and Dave will.

i'd happily do it...but the problem is, i see that chris will be more of a fleeting voice in the background for a lot of it - and not quite the same as 'the chris moyles show' being on all day - which isn't enough to have me listen to the entirety of shows like zane/grimmy - the early hours shows will be fun though, they'll get their largest viewing numbers ever on iplayer.

I was considering it, but I don't think I'm gonna be able to get out of work. In reality I don't think I would last that long anyway - I'm not a young whippersnapper like you.

I suffer it so I can listen to the handover. Feel like I'm missing out if I don't.

Looking forward to this. I'm surprised they're doing it though as I thought they'd talked about the idea a couple of years ago, but Chris didn't fancy it. Or maybe I've imagined that...?

I doubt I'll do the whole 37+ hours, but I hope to take in the majority of it live, especially the overnight stuff! Luckily the attempt has fallen on days that I'm not working. :)

Wow, this is great stuff, I can't wait. Like a loser, I will be aiming to record every minute of audio and video and watching it all, but not all live, of course. :)
