For me 2001 was the best year of the last decade, I have quite fond memories of quite a few songs from that year, I suppose because I was listening to a lot of Moyles & Jon Holmes (on Virgin Radio) round this time that alot of songs grew on me, anyway enough of that bollocks, my choice for this year:

S Club 7 - Don't Stop Movin' - May 2001 - Number 1

No point me choosing a decent indie track as you lot like this cheesy stuff on here

God, this was an amazing year. On my shortlist:

Feeder:Buck Rogers
Limp Bizkit:Rollin'
Safri Duo:Played A Live (The Bongo Song)
Shaggy:It Wasn't Me
Gorillaz:Clint Eastwood
Muse:Plug In Baby
Ash:Burn Baby Burn
Linkin Park:Crawling
Robbie Williams:Let Love Be Your Energy
Daft Punk:Digital Love
Strokes:Hard To Explain
Weezer:Hash Pipe
Wyclef Jean:Perfect Gentleman
Uncle Kracker:Follow Me
Blink-182:First Date
Linkin Park:In The End
System Of A Down:Chop Suey
Weezer:Island In The Sun
Andrew WK:Party Hard
PPK:Resurrection
Sum 41:In Too Deep

The quandary is, do I go for the tune I absolutely like the best, or the one that I think could win.

Watch this edit...

Right, may not forgive myself here, if I was going for the best song it would either be Blink-182 or Andrew WK, but have to go for the all-round appeal to try and win this week.

Guilty pleasure I'm afraid. Why wasn't it on last weeks X-Factor?

I too had a long shortlist - some of which crossed over with Sidders', unfortunately (Andrew WK, Linkin Park, System of a Down, etc). I almost went for Ash with either Shining Light or Burn Baby Burn, REM's Imitation of Life (one of my favourites of theirs), Turin Brakes - Underdog (Save Me), Avalanches - Frontier Psychiatrist, and I briefly considered Alcoholic by Starsailor... in the end though, I think it's got to be Staind with It's Been a While.

Wow, how do I know all the songs from 69, when I wasn't born, but all this music and all these bands have completely passed me by. I would have been30, I used to listen to allot of Folk music then, I'll try and dig some out, but it won't have charted!.

Show of Hands Blue *

I saw these guys in 2001 in Crewkerne, it was a 4pm gig, and it was us 4 and two other people!

They are I think the best folk band in the world.

It won't get any votes, but it brings back great memories!
