with everything thats been going on regarding the future of Chris and the show i think this coming week Scott shall be feeling the pressure as all eyes will be on him to see if he really is the Saviors true successor.

i used to listen to his show all the time, but havent since Chappers left. So i shall be tuning in, just to see what the future of the R1 breakfast sounds like.. ;)

Dunno if you're on the wind up but why would they put Mills in the morning slot?

Aside from him being a diabolical character, he's the same age as Chris and he has been criticised for being "too old" for the kids who tune in.

I don't believe Mills will ever be offered Breakfast permanently.

I would like to think that Greg could be a potential replacement as he is young and i think he is currently quite good he'd maybe just need a couple more people to make better entertainment on breakfast. But i love listening to Greg and also dev atm

I like Greg alot and rumour has it somebody I know (Not personally, but I've done online presenting with said person) is keen to line up with Greg to start forming a team, they're on good terms & said person has gone down the route Greg did in terms of getting on air & has won multiple awards (SRA awards etc). Hes currently doing work across 3 or 4 commercial stations. Watch this space :P

Edit: The above implying he could well be getting a team together like Chris has done

Greg James is the only one currently at radio 1 who would be any good i think. i really like greg a lot now. i do like mills but he is to old. but moyles wont leave for a while yet anyway.

i dont like it how everyone assumes you need to have some kind of zoo format with lots of people because its breakfast.

i think he works well with tulip on news handovers so would perhaps like to see her involved, and maybe like you say mr a n other but im not sure if he needs to have 4/5 people with him like chris/dave/dom/aled/tina etc

Yeah, So in this case it'd be Greg, Neil, Mr X & Tupil which is the kind of thing I can see working on breakfast, so who knows.... Its the obvious choice for me!

Edit: You definitely need a team on breakfast in my opinion. You need flowing conversation otherwise everything just gets turned into "That was, coming up, this is" etc which isn't wake up material

Double Edit: I don't want this btw, I want Chris on breakfast for aslong as he can still entertain me, which doesn't seem like its ending soon!

i forgot all about neil. that would actually be quite good. he provides the gloomy, moaning character and tulip would be the victim.

if im honest i would actually like a change sooner rather than later really. chris is old greg is young! i relate much more to greg than moyles put it that way.

26. greg james is what 24? much closer to me than moyles anyway. target audience for radio 1 at times feels like 11- 15 years old though, and thats coming from a total div like me

Yep you definately need a team on a Breakfast show, Simon Mayo had a crew, as did Wogan & Tarrant on Capital did as well. Of those Tarrant's show was my fave with Howard Hughes reading the news, either Russ Boy or Caroline Faraday in the Capital FM traffic 'copter & producer Annie the bag lady from hell :)

I think Greg is the most likely replacement now, they just need to get a team together & then I'd think it'd be a great little show :)

regarding the sincerity of my opening post.. the only thing remotely serious was:
"i havent listened to Scott since Chappers left"

for me the only replacement for Chris is Greg James. there was a couple of rumours a while back about "Sicky Sicky Poo Poo" wanting the job. worse than mills in my humble opinion.

Greg has the potential, but putting him on breakfast if and when Moyles leaves would be radio suicide for Greg.

A. I still don't think he has developed enough for breakfast. Moyles was on afternoons (drivetime, not early afternoon) for 5 years before he stepped up for breakfast. At that point he already had a team and a soap opera feel forming. Greg doesn't have that yet.

B. Whoever replaces Moyles will do badly. Ratings will plummet, no matter what. Radio 2 were lucky to escape that after Wogan left because Chris Evans was the replacement, but that's a rare occurrence that is unlikely to happen to Radio 1, someone bigger and better replacing Moyles. Radio 1 will need a fall guy or girl, that fall guy could still be Scott who despite being the same age, he does have a lot more younger childish sounding show compared to Chris.

If they were to put Greg on breakfast straight after Moyles he will ruin his future Radio 1 career. There will be a right time for it to happen, that time isn't now.

I agree with David, I think Greg is potentially breakfast material but not yet. I also agree about whoever takes over from Chris and I think the fact that there is not only no obvious replacement, but no suitable replacement at all means that Chris is much more likely to be able to dictate when he goes rather than Radio 1 - certainly at the moment.

The day Greg gets the morning show is the day I stop listening to Radio1.

But hopefully that won't be for a long time and even then Chris will be doing a breakfast show elsewhere.

Out of all the current crop I'd say that Greg is the most suitable replacement for King Moylesey...... Age is on Greg's side.
I cant see Chris leaving for a while though (hope not anyways), radio 1 wouldnt be the same without him.

There's only 2 people who would keep me listening to the show after Chris leaves and that's Sara and Greg.

Sara has no chance of getting the job so that leaves Greg. I agree that when Chris leaves there needs to be an inbetween guy/girl for at least a year before Greg gets it.

Personally there is nobody currently at R1 who would make me want to listen. I would only listen to the station for Pete Tong and perhaps Judge Jules.

There are honestly no other djs I would bother to tune in for.

Which says a lot about the talent we have on the radio atm. Chris simply provides a down to earth, honest and sometimes funny radio persona. How bloody hard can that be to do? Why are we surrounded by fools on the airwaves!? Please R1, do some scouting, there must be plenty radio djs working up and down the country in local radio. The only option atm seems to be Greg James according to this forum and frankly he's pretty crap. You know it makes sense.

Cheers!

Would Mills even give up his slot anyway? I think he fits quite well into it, and Chris suits the breakfast slot. Besides, Who would want to wake up with scott (Guffaw Guffaw!)
