The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Hi everybody, this is my first thread :) I wanted to know what's you guys' favourite part of the show? Obviously I'm talking about the Chris Moyles Show.... :D

I love the first 1/2 hour. I love the chat and the banter and the music is...meh. I suppose they use the music to give them a chance to eat and go to the toilet and the like, so it's understandable. I always skip the music when I'm listening on iPlayer.

I think the reason for playing music may be more to do with the fact that Radio 1 is a music based station than giving the team an opportunity to go to the toilet and eat. Just a hunch.

Hi R94N - I also like the first half hour best of all. Well apart from the cheesy song! But I like the end of the song when you wonder...is he there? Great stuff. I love to get up at 6.20, make a big pot of tea and get some early work done and listen to the show. Can't imagine mornings without it!

If someone told me I could only ever listen to 30 minutes of the show each day I would choose the first half hour as it is consistently excellent. No banal features, no music just Chris and the team chatting amongst themselves.

But the highlights, for me, are the random moments which you never see coming, that spark Moyles and the rest of the team into a brilliant, funny ten minutes of laugh out loud banter. They are the moments that make the show so brilliant to me.

I love the first 30 mins, though and wouldn't change a thing about it. Listening to that is a great way to start the day- especially when the news starts at 06:26 and you know Chris is on time :)

Of the Breakfast show my favourite moment is the opening half hour, it never disappoints, wonderfully chatty and random.

Of the old Afternoon Show I have quite a few favourites, but the most memorable moments for me are Sports Talk with Will giving his "expert" opinions on recent football games and John Culshaw Friday's, those Friday shows were always great between 1999-2001, I think the show went downhill a bit when he was dropped from the show, shame they don't get him in more often nowadays.

I've really enjoyed the jingles this year, having that one before the pitch (Piers likes news to be on time) I think gives the show some deserved authority in radioland.

what??? Dead ringers was fantastic, and his recent show was good as well.

First half hour is consistently good, and I'm so annoyed that now I have to get up at 6:30 (no earlier, cos it's painful enough), cos I miss part of it until I get back from work. But generally anything spontaneous is good, interviews depend on the interviewee, pub quiz can be great with the correct questions (more maths qs please), anytime there's a good caller on and the continuing saga of aled's love life.

I agree, I disliked those Friday shows precisely because unfunny Culshaw was on every bloody week. Unfortunately Chris seems to have taken it upon himself to fill in as a piss poor impressionist these days, which is fast become my least favourite part of show.

As for my favourite part, I'd have to agree with the majority of answers on this thread and say the first half hour. I lie in bed and listen to them rambling on, with the seven o clock news being my cue to drag myself out of bed.

Yeah, you'll be amazed how much chat can be squeezed into 12 hours.....!

I also love the first half hour, the naked honesty of it, no features, no music, just the team chattin amongst themselves. Top shizzle.

If Dev leads into the news at 0626, you know Chris is already in the building. If he plays another record and the pips are before the news, that's when you know he's running late, its just a case of HOW late? Happens at least once a week, usually more - but he's almost always there these days, its usually just a case of needing four or five minutes to get into the building and down to the studio I think.

I also love the first half hour. I also love McFly Day, and I love the Golden Hour too. I think its good because even though the Chris Moyles Show is totally non-reliant on music content for its appeal, Chris loves music, and I like hearing that side of him too.

Actually I do, Dom was off and it was the first time Tina had to do the whole shebang by herself - yes, I totally believe him.

OK, I'll be the first to say it. I'm not ashamed to say it even though it's going to an unpopular opinion....I love the first half hour -- well, opening link, as it often goes on past the news.

I also love Carpark Catchphrase -- especially when Dave's^H^H^H^H^H^H Roy's questions gets surreal and/or there's a particularly thick contestant.

For the record Tina did "the whole shebang" while Dom was stranded by the ash cloud.
