The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Anyone care, anyone like it, anyone hate it, anyone had their name read out and so on and so forth....

I wouldn't say I hate it, but think it's pointless and unentertaining. Hopefully they've done it now, and won't keep flogging a dead horse, as they sometimes tend to do.

It's a good way to get the texts flooding in. I think it's ok although it might get a bit annoying if it's done constantly.

Yerah, I agree, its a text thing. No other R1 show gets the volume of text that Mr C does. 41,000 names texted in! I have been doing, but the odds of gettign read out are slim at best.

Like the song, but as a feature its a little lacking.

It's at least a hundred times better than celebrity raspberry.

I like it, and I did chuckle when he said "you realise we've been playing the same song for half an hour' on monday :)

I find it quite entertaining, but i am more inclined to say that as i got my name read in the register yesterday!!!

May get boring after a while though!

As someone on my twitter feed asked - are Radio 1 DJs paid off that damn text number?!

To be honest, I have no feeling either way regarding the feature itself. It's obviously popular if so many are sending in texts for it. I don't like the underlying song though, but that's personal preference.

No.

And if you could, tell them that the BBC makes no money from texts, nor from phonecalls. The only charges are those imposed by the phone companies.

Yeah, I don't mind it. I doubt it'll last that long. (I may be speaking too soon tho!)

the texts can be used as evidence that the audience interact with the show, and also of a feature's popularity.

I haven't heard much of the show lately.... what is it?

It's the kind of lazy radio feature Scott Mills is very fond off, basically just a list of listeners names read out over the 'Barbra Streisand' track by Duck Sauce.

I think it's one of those features where "you had to be there" at the unscripted creation of it, like Nana Window. Then it's quite good.

I disagree with you on this when you apply that to The Duck Register. People are texting in to get their names read out, not to compliment the feature or discuss it. Outside of the people who text in I would be amazed if there is any significant support for it. How can thee be anything entertaining in it for anyone else? There is simply no enjoyment factor to hearing strangers names read out to a piece of music.

Also, how could anyone with normal, common first and second names be sure that it was their name read out and not some other, random Steven Thompson who also text in.

A pointless feature in my opinion.

Ahhh - I think I actually heard the beginning of when they came up with it, but because I didn't know the name of the group and didn't know they'd turned it into a feature, is didn't register that that was it.

I don't mind it, but I wouldn't call it a feature......more a passing fad.

I thought it was funny when they did it with famous people.....pato banton worked well

It was a tongue in cheek comment, designed to illustrate that almost all the DJs push that text number to a greater extent than it really merits.

It only occurred to me when they read out that email from the Texan woman that double-barrelled names don't fit. So there would have been no point in me texting in anyway!

JLS were brilliant on Duck Register this morning, it could have gone on forever as far as I'm concerned. Great radio.
