The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I'd be pissed off if I didn't get paid, and more fool the BBC for not paying someone with a means to force their hand. F*ck anyone who says otherwise, but he's worth what he gets. You need compensation when you get that much grief for doing your job.

I haven't listened to the rant yet, hope I don't miss it though, cos it sounds like its up there with the rant against the late thread from a couple months ago. It might be pissing Chris off, but at least he can make entertainment out of it.

dsmuk - I don't think you're comparing apples with apples, so your point is a moot one, really.

You are a teacher, you work in an environment where it would be wholly inappropriate to rant at your pupils about your pay. Chris Moyles, however, is paid to talk about himself/his life/the team's lives on a daily basis, so of course he's going to mention something as big as not being paid for two months.

I think it's disgraceful, I certainly wouldn't have carried on for two months with no pay. I think it's a testament to how much he loves his job that he has continued to turn up, quite frankly.

I don't agree with that at all. He should've been paid, it doesn't matter how much he has in his account. That is besides the point on a massive scale. I get paid probably 1/3 of you on your teachers salary, does that mean that you don't mind being paid (Albeit temporarily) as there are still people worse of than you out there, money in your account or not. No, of course not.

Did miss out a bit from my first post that said he should get the money he is owed (now correct above )

My pay has been incorrect for the past three months as I have not received money for getting to a course 300 miles away, an overnight hotel and food costs while away but that does not mean that I rant about it to the students I teach. In my First year I received £6.40 in pay one month after some * up and I didn't get it until the next pay day, should I have ranted to all the kids and parent and parents evening about it. No, it's a personal matter between me and my employer.

There is still a massive difference. We are talking about 0 income for 2/3 months here. Not one day, missing some expenses/bonus or similar, but 0 income for 2-3 months. Also people saying "well he's on £500k a year he must have loads of cash around."

The majority of these personalities, sportsman, etc will pay off the majority of wages into savings schemes, investments etc, and live on enough to be 'comfortable.' So Moyles might only have enough for mortgage, bills and general expenditure. It is unlikely it would be easy for him to just pull out money to cover these short term costs, hence why it is such a big problem.

The BBC are notoriously bad at paying self employed staff [from lower skilled all the way up] and suppliers. I have mates who worked 9 months without being paid as a contractor on various projects, colleagues that are about to go to court over invoices from 2006/2007. It's about time someone stood up to the Beeb and fired a rocket up their arse.

We largely enjoy Moyles's rants and chatter about all kinds of day to day issues, after all it is like being down the pub with them alot of the time, so why should he hold back on this. When he says he has been forced into this, I am wondering if a clause has been tripped. I am sure his agent has been hounding the Beeb and got no where and it got to the stage where it needed to go further.

I also have no doubt he'll have all owed monies by the end of the month / next payment run. :D

God help the kid of this country? A pass rate of 100% A* to C at GCSE for the past 3 years (only been teaching for 5) - kids, parents and teachers seem to think I am doing a good job. Students achieve on average 1 grade above their predicted grade and whereas the national trend shows females achieving higher than males, in my class, it's the lads that are doing better.

However, I take your comments on board and will arrange to see a careers advisor tomorrow to see if I am more suited to another job. What do you reckon?

Personally I dont blame him for the rant, I was just surprised he did on air considering the importance and personal nature of the situation, at first he was'nt going to publically say anything but seems he just could'nt contain his justified anger. But have to say I'm worried for his well being after seeing the picture in the Sc*m, he looks awful, the last few weeks seem to have really taken its toll and its no real surprise considering.

The discussion of Moyles' salary lasted around 25 minutes, although it branched off into a tongue-in-cheek rant about the lack of fresh milk in the Radio One fridge.

Your right, nothing wrong with being a bin man, I was wrong to say that. Have removed that comment.

She was, but she married and the joke didn't work anymore when going to the heads office

That would be constructive dismissal tho, would cost the beeb even more.

im a noob and waiting a barrage of abuse for this, but wouldnt work a week without pay never mind 2 months and hes right about the narrow minded numpties complaining about how much he is on as if it wouldnt effect him? i have worked hard to get where i am today and think the numpties who havent done well enough in life to be satisfied with theyre own existence should shut up and move on.

rant over! :D

To be fair I would expect more abuse over your pic which looks like something Ashley Cole would have on his phone. Do I need allegedly here?

Considering the Just Jack / Ashley Cole song on Youtube then I think your fine

Listened to the rant, (not much more cos my phone can't hold a signal for more than an hour, and radio time won't f*ckin seek. If tina thinks she's got problem with milk, I've had to listen to the cheesy song 6 times), the bit where Chris brings up the amount of stress that he's been under makes me think this has been stupidly mishandled. Christ the BBC gets a kicking from 5 sides these days, but they don't half make it difficult for themselves at times.

I've already posted this picture from the Daily Mail's coverage of the pay rant story in the Ask Aled section, but I've only just noticed the sign in the background, which made me smile.

Not to go on a smoking rant (but I will anyway) I cringe whenever I see a photo of Chris, or any celebrity, with a fag in hand. To me it makes absolutely no sense to be on any kind of a health kick, making regular gym visits or trying to eat heathily, if you don't also at least try to stop smoking! Self-righteous rant over.

i'm a non smoker - but to be fair to chris, he's not trying to make his lungs better - he's trying to improve his physical appearance. i'm on the same kind of regime, and i still drink like a chavvy fish, but restrict it to the lowest calorie forms of alcohol.

No, I think most people would be in a similar boat. Most companies wouldn't be able to get away with not paying their staff as and when their wages were due. A large chunk of the population wouldnt be able to bank roll themselves for a month without a salary.

I agree with you on the smoking thing. A truly repulsive habit.

DJ Chris Moyles plays down BBC pay tirade

Radio One DJ Chris Moyles has played down an on-air tirade about not been paid in his first show since he made his comments.
Moyles said he was "not embarrassed, just very bemused" by the furore surrounding his "rant" on Wednesday.
"Yesterday was a ridiculous day," he said as his show began at 0630 BST. "Hopefully, this will go away."
The 36-year-old had told listeners he had not been paid for two months, branding it "a huge lack of respect".
"I am so angry that they've put me in this position where now I have to choose whether or not I go to work," he said.
On Thursday Moyles said he had been "upset" and "frustrated", but that the matter had been blown out of proportion by the media.
"I'm very, very moody first thing in the morning," he said. "I'm not a morning person.
"That rant I did yesterday is not the worst rant I've done on-air."
Moyles did not retract or apologise for his comments, saying that "everything I said yesterday I stand by."
He said he had met with Radio One controller Andy Parfitt to discuss the situation on Wednesday night.
The BBC has made no comment about the matter or Moyles's latest contract, which he signed in July.
On Wednesday his agent said the issue was in the process of being rectified.
Last year Moyles become Radio One's longest-serving breakfast DJ after overtaking a previous record set by veteran broadcaster Tony Blackburn.
