Also, I thought that Dave's golden hour today was one of the best in ages and he presented it well as well. Shame about Dog or Human but it was still funny for all the wrong reasons!

I never listen to the Golden Hour, but did today and thought it was fantastic. So many good tunes.

Well done Dave :)

Hey you lot! I'm still behind on my Moyles show since my holiday, am only now listening to yesterdays show (nearly caught up) with Sara. What great stuff. I love Coxy and its great to have her covering if Mr Saviour is ill.

And does anyone else agree, the chemistry between Sara and Dave. Dave well fancies Sara, has done for years, and you can tell in his voice/manerisms. Think its so sweet, bless him.

Great stuff again.

Dare I say it, when Chris does move on the team we had today would make a more than satisfactory replacement. Get rid of Dave and bring in a sidekick with some talent and the ability to take over when need be and we'd have a line up to rival the present one IMO.

At the risk of another "me too"...

Absolutely fair shout to Sara for the last couple of days.. and totally agree that she should be the first choice stand-in in future. I seem to recall she's quite keen to only have regular weekend hours but be a weekday stand-in for Fearne amongst others.. in which case fair enough all-round.

People knock Mills a lot, but he suits drive brilliantly and has made that slot his own much like Moyles at breakfast. Scott at brekkie just sounds a little too similar to iPod FM, Heart etc, to me. And while Vernon does suit his weekend show well.. yes, Coxy for regular stand-in.

Shocking. Both Sarah and Dave are apple droppers. I’d make cider vinegar and apple crisps to last me through the winter, but alas being young and living in the east end I don’t have a garden.

Another great show from Sara and the team today. Could very happily listen to this show format every morning.

Up until Sara this week I thought that no other broadcaster could replicate the success that Chris has had on R1 Breakfast whenever he does decide to move on to pastures new. After this week however a show with Sara back at the helm and a good team for her to bounce off, I could certainly see having very broad appeal from students to the school run brigade! Of course whether she would want to be back on the air daily and at that time of day is a question for Sara. I guess its also a question for R1 management whether they will want to continue to aim for huge breakfasts audiences or (shudder) BBC switch-ify the R1 breakfast show in a year or two.

I do think Sara was much improved from her own breakfast days and I can even say I enjoyed the show... still not a patch on Chris though, not even close - surprisingly I think she is my second favourite presenter on Radio One now though.

Got that and the qualifying sessions (featuring the weekends other awful fatality... :( ) on a HD drive somewhere, I've got almost all post-1985 GPs. I probably got them from the same ('underground'?) racing website as you! :D

It's entirely possible that he does fancy her, Sara and Jayne are not entirely dissimilar, are they?

Another great show from Sara today, she really has been very impressive! I wonder if Chris will be aware of the praise that Sara has been getting here and presumably on the text? I wonder if he's listened?

I like to think we just heard the next Breakfast Show host these past 2 days but I don't think she's young enough for those oh-so trendy hipsters at R1 who don't think that somebody the other side of 30 can speak to an 18yr old

Just listened to the first 25 minutes of Sara's Thursday show, now I wasn't a fan of her Breakfast Show at all, however this has been bloody brilliant, Candyman & Beetlejuice I'm sorry but I think she is a great broadcaster these days, actually I'm not sorry you don't like my opinion then bollocks

The last two shows were fantastic.

Sara has a great chemistry with the team. Tina even seemed to be speaking up more than she normally does.

It would be good to think she could take over when Chris does eventually leave, but i imagine the BBC bosses will think she's to old and has already had her crack at the breakfast show slot before.

Definitely been a strange week. Starting off with two of the worst shows and ending in two of the best.

Hah, I aint heard any of this weeks show nor had I read this thread (although I was wondering why it had stretched to ten pages). Having read through it and been brought up to speed, I've decided that you're all a bunch of geeks. That's not really a bad thing, but you are. ;)

Aled wrote:As for the bumming - you can't possibly expect someone to step in and on day 1 get all of that detail.

This is, by far, my favourite post in the thread.

If anything i think this has shown just how lazy chris really is

you slam vernon for messing up the board, but on listening back to the shows it seems a lot of the technical genius that you guys think is due to chris is actually down to aled

Chris is not lazy at all, it has been well documented that Chris is a master at the desk, not many at Radio 1 are as good as him.

But before Aled there was Rachel who was preceded by Piers (?)

I dont doubt that Chris is good on the board - and clearly Vernon isnt quite as good on dealing with the Chris Moyles jingles, but then again he isnt Chris Moyles or part of the show team...

Listening to his show and you'll see he's more polished with his own beds / generic R1 stuff...

Hmmm I have a an axe that has been handed down for generations through my family. Its the same axe they have been using for hundreds of year. Its had a few new heads and a lot of new handles but its the same axe.

Oh my God! No! Not at all! I was technically more active this week BECAUSE Chris wasn't there. It's complete hats off to Chris' technical skills! I was just trying to ensure Vernon and Sara had a show that sounded similar to how Chris would want it.
