The question was "why". In the case of the music, the answer to that is obvious, they have to, its the rules. So what's your point?

My point is that they'll never be able please everyone.

You start going down the road of only playing what you think the majority of people want to hear, and you'll end up with a show so diluted that it's just like all the other shows on the radio.

You show me one feature that 100% of the listeners like.

I just don't feel the need to follow the crowd and slag it off.
Sometimes I watch it and think "Well that was a waste of time", and other times my sides are hurting from watching the performing apes.

There are much better programs on the TV, but there are also much worse too (any dancing and singing talent shows, the sudden emergence of bland talk shows like the One Show and the equivalent channel 5 and channel 4 shows, the ridiculous amount of property and antique shows, BBC period dramas, SKY over-acting dramas (24, Fringe, Lost), etc, etc, etc)

I'd hate to either watch something or avoid watching something just because of what other people might say.
That would just be sad, and more than a little vacuous.

Given that recommendation and word of mouth is the best directive towards any new experience, you're probably not quite on the button there. I do know what you mean, you mean (I think) that you wouldn't like or dislike something simply because someone else told you that you should - which I agree, is both vacuous and sad. But if someone said "ooh watch that, its really good" you would probably give it a go wouldn't you? Then make up your mind?

I think they like most people have lost interest. Its just not entertaining anymore, which is why it has so few viewers and has been axed. I think everyone was expecting something special for the last series, but its the same old rubbish of jumped up egos wanting to be famous with personalitys choosen so they clash! I like the first few series as it was "normal" people!

I agree, the first three years were enjoyable to watch, however over the last few years it's become stagnant & stale, perhaps the team feel the same?

Why is that disappointing? If you want to watch it, that's down to you... I certainly don't want to ruin my evening with it.
