The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

In no particular order.

McFly day - Apart from no liking McFly I hate this song with a passion

Aled - Dunno why he just annoys me. I have no interest in the surgery and that seems to be all he ever talks about.

The Golden Hour - Just because it takes away time from the show when the team could be talking and making me laugh. Dont dislike the old songs though, maybe if it was only done once a month or somethin.

Aled is not 'stuff' is he? Do they keep him in the same cupboard the headphones go in?

Instead of firing at Aled, we should welcome Rachel back, that'll restore the balance and keep things more like a bickering radio family than merely a group hanging out.

The other two, I'd be inclined to agree.

I agree with getting rid of the Golden Hour, it's just the same old songs on a cycle now.I truly don't understand how anyone would want rid of Where Am I though, it's still genius to me.

whilst 'where am i' is an amazing feature - they've got a successful feature that's been running for a while, and 12 months of the show to fill.

better to save it, trial new features and then revert back to a proven favorite. (from the team's POV)

Well the show isn't feature heavy. Before the holiday these where the only features running:

Where Am I?
Car Park Catchphrase
Rob DJ's Monday Night Pub Quiz
Golden Hour
McFly Day

Two of those are music based and 3 of them only run once a week. I'm glad that Where Am I? is going the only fun really came from Westwoods mispronunciation and you could make no guarantee that was going to happen daily. Outside of that there is nothing I would get rid of although I wouldn't mind some changes to the pub quiz.

Also anyone that is calling for the end of McFly Day is just plain wrong.

Don't forget Tedious Link and The Cheesy Song, if that's classed as a feature.

Golden Hour (as someone has said, it's the same music on a loop now, and the music isn't that great because they keep playing crap dance music mainly)

Car Park Catchphrase (A lot of the time, they're just padding the end of the show, without even playing somedays. It's been a long time since it was decent feature)

Where am I? (I've never really liked this feature, and it kind of just washes over me now. And Westwood mispronouncing words is only funny so many times)

Does anyone else remember when they first tried the "...... am I" format earlier in the year?
They started off with just a one-off game of "Who am I", and the clues were about a celebrity.
Then they did another version (can't remember what it was) and then the third try was Where am I, which they stuck with.

I was gutted because I enjoyed the "Who am I?" game, and thought it had plenty of legs with an almost limitless amount of celebs to use, and couldn't understand why they went with a geography based quiz (so boring).

If I could add a 4th thing to the list it would definitely be the playlist.
God, they play some guff on Radio 1.

Ahhhh McFly Day another feature which only shortens the show on a Friday. The song is alright but every week and just becomes annoying, why not just try a different song?

CPC is still great but it would be nice if they actually played the game! The Pub Quiz is fine. The Golden hour ruins Friday with the same rubbish 90s songs and Where Am I? is and always has been boring so im glad its going.

What qualifies as a "feature"? CPC - yes, I can see that is a feature. But the Classic Class thing - how is that a feature? More of an interlude. Even something like Two Word Tango would be difficult to actually make a feature out of. Its a one off thing they do from time to time, its never been a regular slot and to make it one would need some planning.

Anyway, since when have features been an important part of the show? Features are only good for either filling in time or disguising the fact that you are a broadcaster with nothing to offer your audience yourself (listen the Scott Mills, his show is all features and no content). I can see why they want a couple of regular things on the show, but god forbid that features would ever become the most important - or even slightly important - part of the Moyles show.

I agree, "Who Am I?" would have been a better game, Mark & Lard did something similar in the last few months before they went off air called "Mystery Man" where two contestants would come on the line & Mark would get the "celebrity guest" (which was Lard "dressed in amour") giving clues, once the person was correctly guessed they'd "open the mask" and Lard would do his best (or worst) impression of the celeb in question.

I also agree regarding the playlist, there really is a load of shite on the playlist at the mo, yet BBC management still don't get it that the youth like a wide range of music, not just the superficial chart shite.

I definately agree, it's really poor, if Mills is contracted to fill in for Moyles then he should do the show like Chris does, Foxy & Penk had to when they filled in for Tarrant on Capital FM in the 90's.

Radio 1 competitions, find it dull radio and it's not what Chris is good at

The handover with Fearne Cotton, or preferably Fearne Cotton

Scott of holiday cover, Greg or Vernon on instead

Three things:
Golden Hour
Mcflyday
Mills covering for Chris.

Fridays show is just too "busy". There will always be some corporate link they will have to do or a competition or some other BS and there is the Jake Humphrey interview and "where am I...?" (and its replacement) and before you know it its switch off time when the Golden Hour is here and there has been very little banter between the team.

After 7am on a Friday it is definitely the easiest to miss part of the week for me. I like "where am I...? and Jake Humphrey, but I end up resenting them both when I know its is only a short show on a Friday because of the Mcfly and Golden Hour stuff.

I don't like the feel of the Friday show either. It just feels too cheesy. Chris reads out texts in the Golden Hour and before/after the Mcfly stuff that Mon-Thurs he would never even dream of reading out. I know they are aiming to capture the feelgood factor on a Friday, but it just doesnt work. Not in my opinion anyway.

"McFly Day". Just stop it, please. It was good the first time, now the volume just gets turned down for 3 minutes.

"Where am I" has lost it's appeal now I am sorry to say.

The "Golden Hour" would be good if they maybe went back a bit further. But as someone said, it's getting a bit repetitive. I'd keep "Carpark Catchphrase" too. For some reason it doesn't seem to get boring, perhaps because it's one of the few parts of the show where listeners get on air, and I still find Roy Walker funny.

Maybe they will come up with something original soon. And I don't mean something like "Mysterious Dog".

Cheers,
Dave

Thats right. But they really do struggle with ideas for new features. The features they come up with that work are variations on a conventional quiz,: "where am I..?, CPC, Pub Quiz etc..

When they try to be too original or deliberatly naff (so we can laugh at Daves idea) it just doesnt work. Stick to a tried and tested features formula, and dont have too many of them.

Get rid of Aled a must and let the ESSEX GIRL producer take over, Sunday surgery is just utter crap radio, i didn't listen to this weeks podcast in full because of all the sunday surgery drops.

with Mills covering i just wont be listing for the next two weeks, would like to see Gregg cover alright.
