I can do some more this coming weekend if you want to upload them in time for then, or if you want to upload them now and wait.

J.E.D wrote:Thanks for that, How many shows do you have then and from what years?

Virtually everything since May 2005, give or take maybe 10 shows.

And judging by the tales of the official Radio 1 archive which Aled was talking about on the air earlier, it's a good job someone is keeping them.

I've always wondered how far back the archive was kept at Radio 1 (a question for Aled maybe?) So alot of this stuff we've posted up here from Moyles over the last 13 years could actually be "missing" from the archives, I wonder if any Mark & Lard, Mayo, Peel, etc. survives 8O

Although considering Peel's sessions are pulled quite often for playback I assume that his shows at least are thankfully safe :)

Thats good then hopefully you could add some to this archive at some point?

It's very lucky the shows have been kept by fans otherwise all that history could have been lost (and proberly has by radio 1)

I was thinking of beginning a series of uploads when Moyles finishes at R1, but now he's there for another year, maybe I better do something sooner. I might just send out DVDs to anyone who wants them. I need to get them all organised first, but once I do, I'll announce something here.

Could you possibly upload some 2005/6 shows for me please? I would be happy to edit 1 or two of them

The vast majority of them are the Real Audio files from the old BBC Listen Again service. You'll probably have to concert these to WAV before editing, and then save to mp3.

Should be possible, I can just re-record the show, and pause on the songs, and export as a .mp3? Unless there's a simpler way?

I'd happily volunteer to edit some of them, I can send a USB memory stick if you do get round to doing it, if that's easier of course.

J.E.D wrote:Hmm im not sure whether .ra or .rm can be changed straight to mp3 it might be possible but im not sure.

There are free .ra/.rm to mp3 converters out there on the net, however you want to get hold of the version you don't have to register for, can't remember which one it was though.

It's ALWAYS better to edit with a wav file other than mp3.

If you go ra > mp3, editing that, then saving again as an mp3 , then you're re-encoding too many times - the resulting file will sound dreadful. At least if you're going ra > wav > mp3, you're taking one compression out of the chain.

Seems a bit complex really, if anyone can get me a .mp3/.wav file of the shows then I can edit them

I have:

10.05.2010
11.05.2010

I can edit these if you wish, but I'll be away in Bude for a week, starting tomorrow, but back on 7/8.

I'll try and do as much as I can though
