As one of the key recipients of "The Wrath of Chris" when he read out posts in this thread after showing up late in Bangor, I'd like to say I think he handled his lateness today very well. He hasn't been late in a long time, he had a reasonable excuse, and made all the right noises.

How say you, Travis Bickle?

I agree with you :) He did apologise a couple of times and I think he seemed a bit embarrassed by it.

Still no excuse though. Just get out of bed!!

Whenever I have to be out of bed I just have 2 radio alarms set to different stations so they conflict and it gets really annoying so I have to get out of bed to turn it off

Agreed, he handled it very well this morning, held his hands up and got on with the show, only sore point, he choose that awful song that samples that Nu Shooz song over the "Two Door Cinema Club" song, bad choice Mr Moyles ;)

I even thought he got the song choice right. That Two Door Cinema Club song is awful. I liked their previous one though.

To be honest I haven't heard it, however I have liked several of their other songs, that one he chose instead was still rubbish.

I have to say I was surprised by how little I minded him being late yesterday. I think that's because to be fair, it hardly ever happens these days does it? What used to piss me off was that it had got to two or three times a week and he simply seemed not to care, which I found irritating in the extreme. He doesn't do that any more, he hasn't been late for ages. Accidents happen.

I think he's been late a few times (at least once a week, the show won't start until around 6:33, 6:34, 6:35), but he's not been so late he's had to do the first link on the phone for a good while. I think the funniest time was when he was late for one of the Bangor shows, even though he had been sleeping in the same building overnight.

The news hasn't started late (by which I mean at 6.30 rather than 6.26) for weeks though, or not that I have noticed - and I tend to notice, as my alarm is set for 6.24. Its been very good recently.

I didn't overly bother me either, for the very reasons you stated. I don't however accept the 'accidents happen' argument when he admitted he was awake but just fell asleep again. He should simply have just got out of bed. We all know exactly how he feels when the alarm goes off (especially those of us who frequently have to get up very early), but we just get on with it. And he could easily set two alarms, as I do.

And the reason he was so tired was because he had a late night the night before, just as he did on that infamous time in Bangor. He chooses to stay up late despite knowing how difficult he finds it to get up in the morning, and I find that unprofessional. And Chris is still routinely late, even if it is only by a few minutes.

This isnt another rant by me, by the way! Apart from his regular three and four minute lates this is a comparative one-off. I'm just making the point that both could easily be avoided if he wanted to badly enough. He handled this one well enough though and seemed genuinely apologetic, but it still shouldn't happen.

As for the 2 alarms .... it appears Aled rings him several time.

Your 2nd point ... I agree, very unprofessional.

ok. We generally accept when the news is at 6.30 and not 6.26:15 chris is late.

Maybe that may not always be the case.
> Maybe chris wants the extra couple of minutes too prepare.
> Maybe dev has screwed up his back timing.
> Don't forget when tina did the news on her own. Chris said in the first link that he didn't want the pressure on tina. So went into a half 6 news and not a pips news.

Just a thought

Aled has said before that just cause the news is at 6.30 it doesn't mean Chris is late always but that Dev often needs the extra bit of time.

And lets just hope he's not late again next week. We don't want another of those infamous rants from Travis Bickle...

On second thoughts that sounds like quite an attractive prospect as we haven't had an opening link rant from Chris since the pay one...

Aled told me that the news being at 6.30 was a giveaway that Chris was running a teeny bit late. But like I said, even that hardly ever happens these days. I have no complaints about that or any other aspect of the show right now, its very very good.

My alarms could go off or a smoke alarm could go off and i would still fall back asleep. PLus i am not a morning person anyway. I warn people that they shouldn't talk to me for at least 30-45mins after i wake up as i am likely to bite their head off.
