Maybe you should * off and dont judge until you know some facts!

I work with people with learning disabilties. Dyslexia - real dyslexia, not just rubbish spelling - is very often a feature of their conditions. They are usually the last people on earth who make silly spelling errors because the strategies they learn to overcome their difficulties are ones which they apply rigorously every time they pick up a pen or sit down at a keyboard. And I'm talking severe dyslexia, not " a mild form of".

Not taking the piss, at all, but I'm sure I suffer from "number dyslexia", if that is at all possible. Sometimes if I read a long number out (for example 277366153) not doubt I'd get two of those numbers the wrong way round, most of the time 6 & 9 (awaits Foots or Duck's filfth)

As for today's rant, Moyles Gold in my opinion :)

Its my fault, I knew he read this forum and it was me who typed what I did.

And why are newbies coming on this site telling us what we can and cant think/say. We have our opinions and we will express them as we see fit.

We are not saying don't express your opinions. You are entitled to them and to express them, as we are entitled to express our views to, even if we are 'newbies'! People should feel free to come on regardless whether they are new to the forum or not and express their opinion. Hence why the Roman's create forums.

BUT, people should not feel intimidated whether they are new or not when they express their opinion about someone who has been posting for longer than other people.

Thing is Felix, when the site gets a mention on the air, we end up with a bunch of folk who can't string a decent discussion together. Those who have been around a while learn that these new people turn up, they try and say something that will get them noticed either by us or by the show then get bored and disappear. While I agree that noone should feel too intimidated to post something, those who are on here most days will be expected the majority of those who appear after a show mention to not last long and not to put forward a worthwhile discussion.

Occasionally, a little dimond in the rough sticks in there and we end up with someone worthwhile. Or DevilsDuck.

Numerical dyslexia does exist but as far as I'm aware its a different beast and behaves differently from the more widely seen dyslexia. I find myself transposing numbers in sequences quite often, I think many people do, but I don't think that on its own that would be considered a sign of numerical dyslexia, from what little I have heard its a pretty complex condition. Actually with me I think its more to do with rubbish and getting rubbisher eyesight!

I love Chris and the show, and wish I hadnt expressed my views the way I did because:
1. I came across as a pillock
2. It seemed as if I hated him! I bloody love the man and the show. He is the best radio presenter/DJ I have ever heard.

Pretty disapointed that on the one occasion he reads what I post it comes across as if I hate him.

It didn't come over to me that way.
I felt they all had a giggle before coming on air to be honest. He sounded a bit upset but then the truth hurts sometimes.
I think Aled said you were a die hard fan and it did make amazing radio.
Loved the end bit where Chris told Dom not to applaud :)

Interesting, so there is such thing, I'm wondering if it's just the stress of the job in all honesty, sometimes it's really bad, other times it's not. I look at a number, type it out again and get two numbers the wrong way round, especially if I'm stressing out at work. As I say 6 & 9 are the worst two numbers for me, the other two for some reason 4 & 5. It very rarely happens outside of work, however work of recent has been very stressful. Thankfully numbers aren't the main part of my job

Have to say that this morning, was fantastic radio...... My baby boy woke me up at 6.15am, usually I switch on at 7am when my alarm goes off, but seeing as I was woken up, I thought I'd tune in.... Boy was it a good listen! My 3 week old baby must have known we were heading for a classic radio moment haha!
I remember reading this thread when I think Travis said "I know Chris reads this thread" and I wondered to myself, 'does he really read us??' So when I heard him reading out the various threads on air I couldnt help but laugh.... You could relate to it in a strange sort of way!
Loved the first 30 mins today.... Thanks for waking me up Jacob!!!!!!

PS Chris.... I still love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First: Hello, I am a 'newbie'. Listen - we've all got to start somewhere.
Second: I first listened to CM 1993 when he was on Pulse FM The Evening Bit, so I suppose you could class me as a longish-term listener and 'fan' , although I realise that 'oldies' will never warm to 'newbies' immediately. I will try my best to deal with this.
Third: I joined simply to comment on this thread, crazy but true. I HAD TO! Sorry.
Next: I am astounded again and again how people can get themselves so emotionally involved in a celebrity/well known individual's life. I have so many questions for you fascinating creatures!!
1) I'm not familiar with the concept of joining a forum to dicuss the intricacies of a celebrity's life. Is this something that many people do?? I don't personally know anyone who does this - or at least they don't tell me if they do. Maybe they want to keep it to themselves for some reason, I dunno.
2) Why does what a DJ do on his show BUG some of you so much? Do people in your everyday (real) life wind you up as much? Like, if someone at your work does something that annoys you every now and again in real life, do you feel compelled to discuss it in minute detail with other like-minded individuals or do you shrug it off and get on with your day?
3) Some of you seriously need to learn some anger management techniques... I have a number for a great therapist if anybody's interested?
4) How much time do you all spend thinking about and discussing the Chris Moyles show? I reckon (controversial, maybe) that if you all spent a little less time thinking about (getting mad about) and typing comments about what a Dj and his colleagues are saying/doing; you may realise that there is so much more to life than this! Free yourselves!! Getting lost in a cyberworld of unreality is surely not good for your mental health!!
PEOPLE - THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN THIS.
Thank you.
I anticipate my critique.

Hi Skye, welcome to the forums

Most of the people on here are big fans and dont really get themselves emotionally involved in Chris life, but will express an opinion on something they dont like as much as they will express an opinion on something they do like.

E.g. The lateness thing bugs some people on here and others just dont care.

As for our mental health.....the fact that you have a number for a great therapist makes me think you will fit right in!

God bless you. There is a girl on my course with a proper eastenders dialect on her, always saying things like 'i done it', ''i got it spreaded' etc. and when we raised this with her in a very nice way, that it was a genuine source of annoyance that she couldn't string any decent grammar together - out came the excuse "yeah, i've got dyslexia".

"oh really, which kind, and how severe? you should let the uni know, because you can get a free laptop and software too"

"no - the doctors never said it, but i do have it".

good spelling and grammar is the cornerstone of a healthy society.

I get the swapping numbers round thing a lot at work, but I've never considered it a disorder. I reckon I'm just scatterbrained.

I sometimes type words and letters the wrong well round as well, but I think it might just be because I've never really learned to type properly.

I think I'd quite like to respond to this...

1) I don't believe that we're here to discuss the "intricacies of Chris' life". We don't discuss in much detail stuff like his girlfriend, house, off-air friends etc - in fact not too long ago I had a bit of a rant about a crop of newbies who seemed to only be interested in things like his personal feelings on leaving Radio 1, where he lived, and the age-old question of his xbox gamertag. We are big fans of the show, so we like to talk about the show and what Chris says/does on air, admittedly sometimes in minute detail. But because Chris is the main presenter of the show, it's inevitable that some details of his personal life, eg what time he gets up in the morning, will spill into that. I reckon one of the reasons many of us enjoy Chris' DJing style is that he does talk about his life, he doesn't maintain some sort of facade like some other DJs do. I personally don't belong to any other forums that exist to discuss a particular celeb, altho I know many of them exist, but I do belong to ones that discuss a TV show and style of music, and the discussions on there often turn to personal details of a person's life too. It's just how people's thought processes work.

2) I didn't participate much in the 'Chris can't get up on time' discussion so I can't comment on that, but I personally am a very laid-back person and rarely get angry about anything much. But I am passionate about some things, and I enjoy discussing those things with like-minded and sometimes not-so-like-minded people. For example, I'm a vegan so I belong to a vegan discussion group, where I can read about what other vegans are thinking, feeling and doing. I wouldn't say I'm compelled to do it, but it's pleasant. In the internet age, it's a natural extension of talking about a tv show everyone's watching in your office. What Chris does doesn't 'bug' me, but cos I love the show, it interests me, so I like to talk about it. (This especially implies when you don't know any other listeners in "real life" - and far more people I know hate Chris than love him!)

3) See above. I can't speak for everyone, but I definitely don't need anger management. I'd like to hope that whilst many people on this forum write passionately about Chris and the show, they don't carry that sort of feeling over to all aspects of their lives - that wouldn't make any sense.

4) I'm well aware there is more to life. I have a job, a flatmate, a rat, and many other interests. I maybe spend 20mins a day on here, some days a bit more, some days I don't visit at all (altho to be fair most days I'm at least on the site to do my Tedious). I enjoy the show and I don't believe that spending less time discussing it with other fans would enhance my life, on the contrary, I've met some people on here I consider to be friends, even if it's only in 'the world of the internet'. I think my mental health is fine!

Hope that answers some of your questions skye...

Duck's nice to everyone, he just wants you to like him. Let me add my welcome to his and also add a further point of caution - don't jump to conclusions about anyone here. I think you might be taking it all a little seriously - or at least literally. No one is particularly angry, and you'd be surprised at the huge range and diversity of "life" that most of us have got. Well, not Sidders, but most of us. You'll get to know more about that as you go, if you stay around.

Skype points are well put.

The comparison with how you would react in real life is especially pertinent.

I have commented on many forums based on my own interests ( from small holdings to Quail)

People are why you post on a forum regularly though, its being interested in what they say, and think about subjects.

This was highlighted recently in the Election pole, it highlighted we are mainly Liberal thinking.

I suppose in a way its the dynamics of posters which sets the tone of a forum, and whether new people stay or not. I am sure there is a disitation in Media Studies at Plymouth Uni in that statement.

The term "fan" is rather over estimated on this site I think, we don't have any "screaming girl" type fans, I would say I was a fan in the sence of Chris M would be on my list of people I would like to go for a beer with, others include Jeremy Clarkson, Robbie Williams Jeremy Kyle & Carol McGiven......

As for dyslexia, my 8 year old son is at risk aparently, now you can make excuses, but as parents working with the school we have firstly got to grips with his behaviour then secondly told him he has to try allot harder than he was, and be really tough on this, and guess what? He has improved no end, the condition is a hard one, but we are sure the outcome can be possitive, but only if you will not tollerate lack of effort. With regard to posting on this forum I think spellling and grammar can be excused provided there is at least effort.

Oh, and I was joking about Carol McGiven.
