I had that problem too....! Damn my inability to choose the right hot-pants for the office...! :D

I know. I ended up wearing a skirt instead. Did you also have issues trying to conceal your undereye circles?...

Avon do a brilliant under eye thing they call it a "brightening veil" and it comes as part of a two section thingy. Anyway, it works. The other thing I like about Avon is that all their skincare stuff has SPF15 or higher.

I'm using L'Oreal Touche Magique concealer at the monent and it's pretty good, but I have really dry eyes and sometimes they water in the morning and I can't get anything to stick. Another example of someone who needs to get up earlier in the morning - to put drops in and wait for my eyes to settle!

(apologies gentlemen)

I'm almost scared to listen again to this. Actually the iPlayer link for today isn't up yet - would it normally be by now?

Oddly the first thing I heard when I woke up was Chris reading that text from a girl who said she was half asleep during his rant and wasn't sure how much of it was a dream. That happens to me every morning, except usually it's with the Westwood feature, and I end up getting weird dreams about being in whatever place he's in.

this link genuinely has me in tears of laughter. when rule britannia burst out i genuinely had to wipe my eyes - that, "I KNOW IT ANNOYS DAVE", "DONT PATRONISE ME", dave's "Architecture?!" and then "HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF POUNDS" have been the highlights thus far.

I just "listened again". Holy shit, I can't believe he read out my post almost in full. But I do still stand by everything I wrote, and erm... at least I'm not Travis Bickle.

Interesting. I enjoyed the rant, but I do think Chris was genuinely upset.

I think I know where he's coming from -- as I pointed out in my first post in this thread, I also used to be late for work, and I also used to get angry when I was criticised for it.

He's getting upset, I think, because he's feeling under-appreciated as the "hardest working man in showbusiness" and "Saviour of Radio 1". How could be wrong about the importance of actually turning up when the mikes are hot?!
It's a display of narcissism. Which is not necessarily a bad thing -- the role the Chris plays demands certain levels of narcissism as a personality trait. It's what makes him a good presenter. Most celebs are narcissists -- they have to be. If you don't think you're great, why would you want to go on TV or radio to entertain the world?

Maybe, eventually, he'll realise that turning up late is not acceptable. To his boss, to his team or to his fans. Then he'll make That Change (oooooooh).

And maybe he has already Made That Change, given what he said about getting up earlier this morning. And that was a nice Fridays Off (The Ginger One) reference! :D

Agreed. This morning's show was the funniest in ages.

Am listening again, what time is rant on?

Press go at 6:32 and just let it play until about 7:10!

My god that was some rant, but brilliant radio at the same time. You can almost sense Chris mellowing the longer the rant went on. Al least he seemed to acknowledge why we were miffed that despite sleeping in the house in Wales he was still late and he did say he'd try to make it in on time from now on. I'm sure he'll thank us for turning his early morning life around in his next book :D

But yeah the point that the posters here are genuine fans of the show and are not just people out to take pot shots at Chris still seems to be missed.

I do too, hence why I felt a little bad about it. I suppose it must be hard. If there was an entire host of people having a dig at me, i'd no doubt take it slightly personally.

I just felt a little let down that Chris seemed to not understand the love we all have for him, and that any annoyance at lateness is mainly down to the CM show not being the CM show without him, wether thats for 2 weeks while Scott covers, or 20 mins while Dave covers. Chris binds that team together, they are all brilliant, but lack confidence/guidance with no saviour at the helm.

Last thing I wanna do is upset someone I have such respect and addoration for, yet equally I don't rate the CM show without CM. He IS the show.

Just accept Chris for what he is: a truly great broadcaster. His lateness is funny; it shouldnt bother any one of his listeners. It takes enormous professionalism to turn up late, grumpy & tired and put on a truly entertaining performance. It's only when he's not there do you realise how brilliant he is. Opinions are like buttocks - we all have them but very few should be put on public display.

It's this kind of attitude that leads to Man Utd supporters justifying Dimitar Berbatov

I do and he is.

DJTOne wrote:His lateness is funny;

I disagree. Quel surprise!

DJTOne wrote:it shouldnt bother any one of his listeners.

Can you give me a list of everything that should and shouldn't bother me? It would make life so much simpler, thanks!

DJTOne wrote:It takes enormous professionalism to turn up late, grumpy & tired and put on a truly entertaining performance.

No it doesn't, it takes enormous professionalism to turn up on time, grumpy and tired and do the rest. Which he does usually, better than anyone else.

DJTOne wrote:It's only when he's not there do you realise how brilliant he is.

Absolutely. Although I'd like to think I appreciate him when he is there too. He is a bona fide broadcasting genius.

I have a great ass as well.

The reason that Chris doesn't understand how much we love him could simply be down to the fact that (let's face it) the complaining threads are usually the most active and prominent.

It's a bit like what I learned working at a hotel - customers are far far more likely to comment on what they don't like than on what they do.

Add to that the fact that many people are far more conscious of negative comments about them than positive. And we all know that Chris is no less sensitive than the rest of us. Chris came onto the board looking for what he hoped would be appreciative comments about last week's shows, but instead his attention was drawn to the complaint thread, which he was not expecting, and I can see how that (added to all the other stuff he mentioned this morning) may have affected him.

I know we don't want a board full of ass-kissing and fanboy/girling, but maybe there would be less of an issue if we posted as much about the things on the show we love as the things we don't? Or use the "annoying" thread in Ramble to rant, rather than starting glaring new threads everytime something bothers us? I'm usually guilty of the opposite - posting about stuff I've loved on the show in the happy thread rather than anywhere in the actual Chris Moyles Show section.
