I do like Album Track and also Waterproofs. But with so many of the tracks I'm so used to listening to the versions that were made for and played on the show that I'm having trouble liking the new, souped-up versions. The way they've double-tracked Carrie's voice on Dance Wiv Me irritates me and the rapping on Dogs Don't Kill People seems too perfect. I think what I'll end up having is a playlist comprised partly of the album and partly of the originally broadcast tracks.

I think Jose is the exception of the rule where 'souped up' songs are concerned. It really is a massive improvement, they've turned what was just an ordinary parody for a giggle one cold January morning into something anthemic, I think it's magnificent.

Oh, and I really like the first track too, of course. A belter.

Neither are the original songs. Get with the programme.

I mean, you cant make a parody of something that isnt a song to begin with.

I know what you meant. I was pointing out that there are several tracks on the album which are not parodies but original songs written by Chris and Dave, therefore Nana Window is not unique in that respect, and there is a multi-genre content to the album despite its name. Had you missed that?

As well as many of the tracks being parodies, the album as a whole is a parody of a chart album.

My favourites are Album Track, Barack Obama, The Boy Does Plenty and Waterproof I think.

I love all of them but
Album Track, Lorry Driver, The Boy Does Plenty, Davina McCall oh and the irony of Never Gonna Snow is beginning to become a reality so is making me laugh more and more each time I hear it.
Only CD in the car at the minute cos my kids love it too!

Im shocked that stanta isnt on the cd but after reading an earlier post then i can understand why it wasnt included, i find stanta funny, he could have done a vote on what songs to include on the album, im sure theres more parodies i like which arent on the cd

Of the non-original songs, I'd say Jose is my favourite. "A lot of people say to me, Jose, if you were a number which number would you be? I tell them I would be 72. It's 69 and a little bit more."

Genius.

He couldn't have done a vote because the songs which were included were determined by what he could get permission to use. Its ok doing a parody on the radio of anything he wants but to put it on an album he needed to get permission from artists and record companies involved with the originals. And a lot of them weren't interested. This was all very much talked about on the radio at the time - are you not a listener?

Yeah, Santa brought me the CD, wicked!

I like the Liar song and the Played at Funerals song, neither of which I have heard before.

Still Lorry driver is my all time favorite.

Well done to the team who made this, it is a great piece of work.

Lick Ass.

The album version is 3.19 long, its that same as on the radio just with strings and gets repeated more. Oh it does have the chorus, but the lyrics are still the same!

Jose for me is the best track on the album... i haven't listened to the original for a while so not sure how much they've changed in the lyrics.

However I do find it odd that Dom sings that Jose's sheets are "made from leather, imported from Portugal" 8O

I've settled on my own version of the album and some of the tracks I did keep the earlier, originally broadcast versions, like Addicted To Plaice and I Predict A Diet. Davina McCall is one of the ones I replaced with the newer version, altho I do miss that bit at the end of the original broadcast one where Chris explains how Dave wrote the song "he stole my thoughts of lust", and Dave adds cheerfully "I'm telescopic, y'see." :D

I had sort of forgotten about this album until Never Gonna Snow came up on shuffle on my ipod the other day and I seriously think that song is amazing when listening to it at any time of year. I then started listening to the rest of the album and it is still brilliant. Anyone else still listen to it regularly and would you put it in your top 5 or 10 albums of all time?

Yeah, I do still listen to it now and again. I find that Nana Window will cheer me up on almost any occasion :)
