Gerry and the Pacemakers - You'll Never Walk Alone

Simple because it reminds me of my grandad's funeral and everyone sung to it when the DJ played it.

I love that song, from the musical Carousel and one of the hardest melodies to sing properly I've ever had to attempt. Apparently its easier if you're a man. However that particular version of it is an affront to all decency and lends disgrace and shame to a beautiful tune. Well I don't like it anyway. But I honour your reasons for choosing it Cat, so you might just have my vote anyway.........

Johnny Cash - Ring of fire
Slightly obsessive with this man's music, ashame I cottoned on about 40 years too late!
Just got back from a roap trip in the states and had lots of Johnny Cash as our soundtrack.
Top choice Topher.

Am I allowed Surfin' Bird by The Trashmen? It didn't make it to the UK top 40 but it is from this year.

I don't imagine English Bob would mind at all, he's always been decidedly non-anal about this competition up to now.

As long as the song came out in that year or thereabout, then I don't mind.

Just don't post that video of Peter Griffin singing Surfin' Bird over and over and over again :)

Unusual choice for me, but this song was featured in the brilliant club scene in Goodfellas, the one with one long unbroken camera shot. This is the scene if you want to see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWYe-Ef3u5M

The Crystals - Then He Kissed Me

Alot of people might notice the tune was used for the Big Breakfast theme tune :)

This was a tough week but I went with Dusty Springfield in the end, I love her. Even tho my dad would shout at me for passing up on Beatles tracks, I'm more a fan of their slightly later stuff.
