Not according to that article you linked to, he wasn't:
The original script to A New Hope describes Jabba as a "fat, slug-like creature with eyes on extended feelers and a huge ugly mouth", but Lucas stated in an interview that the initial character he had in mind was much furrier and resembled a Wookiee. When filming the scene between Han Solo and Jabba in 1976, Lucas employed Northern Irish actor Declan Mulholland to play the stand-in and read Jabba the Hutt's lines wearing a shaggy brown suit. Lucas planned to replace Mulholland in post-production with a stop-motion creature. The scene was meant to connect A New Hope to Return of the Jedi and explain why Han Solo was imprisoned at the end of The Empire Strikes Back. Nevertheless, Lucas decided to leave the scene out of the final film on account of budget and time constraints and because he felt that it did not enhance the film's plot. The scene remained in the novelization, comic book, and radio adaptations of the film.

Yeah I worded that a bit wrong, by temporary I should have put "stand in", normally with things like that they just have a tennis ball on a stick, these days at least.

This bearded old fella invented the smiley :o
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Fahlman

But also:
Though credited with originating the smiley emoticons, he was not the first emoticon user; a similar marker appeared in an article of Reader's Digest in May 1967.[5] In an interview printed in the New York Times in 1969, Vladimir Nabokov noted, "I often think there should exist a special typographical sign for a smile--some sort of concave mark, a supine round bracket".

Mythbusters have proven that ducks quacks do indeed echo. A quack in a normal room. The quack is unique as the bars that can signify a echo in the scientific world. Make a echo sound in itself. And when put in a echo'd room. There is a very small echo. Showing on the graph.

My useless fact. Warrington wolves are the only team in rugby league too NEVER be relegated from the top flight of rugby league.

Having the sense to use the brain he has would be his friend too, but that's sadly beyond him.
