I never knew of John Hughes really, enjoyed the film though, so tempting to just stick the famous Kulkin aftershave pic here.

Blimey. I saw them at some cheesy nightclub in Windsor supporting Freddie Starr one New Years Eve in the eighties. They were rubbish! So was Freddie Starr. That was a terrible new years eve.

Actually, on the John Hughes thing, the name didn't mean as much to me as I now realise it should have - that's some filmography.

Anyway, linked to (multiple times on my feed) via Twitter was a very touching blog post about the man - it's a thoroughly recommended read, if some of you haven't seen it yet.

When I heard he's died, I didn't recognise the name. Well, I did, but not that John Hughes. But it's amazing how many of his films I've not only seen, but really enjoyed.

Joke opportunity coming up...

Home Alone is the only video tape I've ever worn out through too much use.

You can fill in your own worn out tape jokes now...

It was pretty much my favourite movie to watch at the weekend. Sure, it was another franchise that suffered from the old American adage of "if something's worth doing, it's worth doing to death and beyond" but the original was a classic kids movie.

And it wasn't the only classic he was responsible for. So this is definitely an "oh no" from me.

Ferris Bueller is one of my favourite films ever - in fact I accidentally own two copies on dvd. A classic.

I've never seen The Breakfast Club by John Hughes, but the ending scene has been parodied so many times! We even parodied it in a student film at uni :D

Given some of his recreational preferences back in the day, I'm amazed he lasted as long as he did.

Oh :( Two people I really like. Patrick Swayzee is in the best film ever and Keith Floyd just used to get pissed all the time whilst filming.
