He tells you how he did it on Friday night. Discuss.

I heard about this today and was a bit hacked off that I missed it so thanks for the link. I didn't think of looking on youtube for it by myself!

That man there Derren is amazing(ly scary) I have no idea about how he does any of his clever amazing trickery (unless he tells me afterwards... he some times just gives me a ring after a big trick on the telly).

I would hate to meet the man as he could probably just convince me that I should attempt to eat my own face or something :(

But he is a genius. Looking forward to big Friday reveal.

I'm suspicious of the unnecessary wave to the camera at the back. Also, there must be some kind of split screen effort going on. Well, that or he has access to a time machine.....

I love Derren Brown.

to be fair, they haven't risked their career or looking stupid by telling everyone that they're definitely going to win. when most people win it's random guesswork, but he's laid across the impression that it was based on some sort of theory.

Is he really trying to say that there is a theoretical formula for always pocking the lottery numberss? Because he's going to tell the world how he did it tonight, which, if that's the case, will be the end of the lottery. So I suspect not. You know, I think it might actually just be some kind of trick from a two-bit end of the pier trickster. A two bit end of the pier trickster with a good act and excellent PR, but trickster nonetheless.

i'm thinking that it will be something more sophisticated than just camera work which would be a massive cop-out, it's interesting that he's turned down the magic circle too claiming he doesn't do tricks. i like watching his programmes though, but doesn't seem like anything more than being entertained

In the trailer for the "spilling the beans" show tonight, I assume there is some significance in the fact that he is apparently quite randomly holding and twirling a solver snowflake Christmas decoration in front of him as he speaks?

Loads of people asked me if he did any tricks on me. He didn't. Or not that I know of anyway... :D I love him too, so I'm basically just killing time til the reveal show at 9. I have no idea how he did it, but I did hear a cameraman at work say that cos a hand-held camera was used there's no way it could have been a split-screen, they could never have got the picture to match up and stay stable. We'll see...

Hmm. I'd be surprised if it was just a split screen to be honest, camera trickery isn't his usual style. But I'm prepared to eat my words in an hour or so if I'm wrong!

Its probably me being tired and just plain stupid - but i'm not really understanding any of this show!

He had to predict them correctly, otherwise there would be no point in tonights show

I reckon they're relying on most people not being bothered to get a group together and spend weeks predicting and/or not really understanding the maths. Maybe it was that fixed lottery machine after all, tho... :D

It was CGI, The bouncing ball gif up there ^^ proves shennanigans. He spent an hour misdirecting/trolling you with even stuff like automatic writing that he's spent his career debunking. Notice that common technique of only him (or a stooge) doing the final 'calculation' of the numbers but not showing them to the people in the room until the reveal. The bouncing ball gif up there ^^ proves shennanigans (and a genuine mistake).

I'd rather he just left the trick and moved on unfortunately he's the only magic act going and this is what the craft seems to have evolved into.

charlalottie wrote:Basically what he's done so far is get a group of people together to look at a year's worth of lottery results and then predict what each number would be for the following draw. Then they totalled the numbers together and divided them by the number of people in the group to get an average number for each ball and then saw whether it was the numbers that came in the result.
Personally, I don't think he's actually done it like this, if all you need to win the lottery is to get a group together, it's gonna * it up.

I don't actually believe that would even work. I'm actually quite disappointed as I'm a big fan of Derren Brown and I genuinely thought he was going to tell us how it was done. All in all this was a pretty lame stunt from Derren.
