Zoot DID choose this week's Golden Hour, as he PM'ed me before he left to get busy with the fizzy :D

Usual rules which you are probably bored of hearing by now. Post a song from the year, youtube clip if you can. Wednesday the nominations get put into a poll, and we vote for our favourite.

Get nominating, and congratulations to Zoot! Try and link your songs to marriage if you can :)

Zoot also PM'ed me his choice, so I'll post that now.

Zoot's choice is Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive as it was Number 1 when he was born. Aaaaaaw.

See, I saw Cool for Cats and I knew that it was either going to be that or another Squeeze hit from the same year for me... then I saw The Eton Rifles and that threw a spanner in the works. But I'm going for the other Squeeze song - Up the Junction.

Now 1979 is a year I can pick many tunes from, my choice is not only one of my favourite Queen songs, but also one of my favourite songs from this year

Queen - Don't Stop Me Now :D

I was starting to panic that I wouldn't find a song from this year - tons of dodgy disco and sub-standard punk - but then I hit the jackpot! Rainbow - Since You've Been Gone

Great year for music, as shown in the list of songs already submitted. Had to choose between a few for myself to submit, but I'll settle for this 8) :

Wow everyone's getting in quick!
Did debate on 'Roxanne' simply for the Sting Ring reference but chosen from an artist I've heard a fair amount of thanks to my dad, before Gym Class Hero's sampled it!
Supertramp - Breakfast in America

1979, a brilliant year for music. It was hard to choose just one song, but eventually I went for Toto with 'Hold the Line'. :D

boboff wrote:Does anyone recommend a site to get a definitive list of when stuff was out?

Wikipedia is good, according to Topher, I use www.everyhit.com however they don't list songs that chart 41+ plus adding "the" to the start of a search produces "no results"

Right this is fun, thanks Bob.

Now really Up the junction is a classic and deserves to win in my opinion, although for all time this has to be the best Country song ever written. And purely on the basis of times played on my itunes it has to be

The devil went down to Georgia- Charlie Daniels Band
