This weeks randomly selected year between Yudster and Jill is....Jill's selection! 1983!

You all know the rules by now. Pick your favourite song from the year, post a youtube clip if you can. On Wednesday I put all the nominated songs into a poll, and we vote for our favourite. To post a youtube clip, paste the video URL, highlight it in your message, then click the youtube button in the toolbar above! This well embed the actual video in your message :)

I thought I'd nominate one this week!

My nomination is Eddy Grant - Electric Avenue

Ignore the 1982 in the top corner of the video....the song DID come out in 1983 :D

Munki, post the track and artist so that people who can't access YouTube at work know what you did.

There were more decent tracks in this year than I expected. I think I'm going for Adam & The Ants and Puss N' Boots.

Tracie-The house that Jack Built.

Much underrated singer whose album was beautiful.

Ah, my birth year!

I suppose I could go for the song that was number one when I was born, but then I don't want to.

I was going for I'm Still Standing by Elton John until I saw and ELO track - I ignored Roll Over Beethoven on the first week and I think 10538 Overture on the second week, so I'm going for Rock 'n' Roll is King this time.

English Bob, what are the rules regarding changing your mind after posting a track? I'm discussing this with Yudster (who has changed her mind) and I thought it'd be good to get it documented... can we change and if so is there a deadline?

You really think? I thought she managed to ruin a good few Style Council songs with her awful vocals.

I want to change my mind - would anyone mind if I took my original choice out and substituted something else?

Yeah, I would say she is one of my favorite female vocalists of all time, I love you when you sleep, which was written by Elvis Costello, has to be in my top five songs of all time, but I think with all music it's about where you were and who you were with when you got into the song, I have no intrinsic skill or experience in singing, but I do know what I like.

Personally, if you want to change your mind, you can Edit your post on here, so it wouldn't be an issue for me, but as its Bobs game, and one I think is brilliant, I suppose it's up to him?

I have no problem with any track changes Yudster or Topher, feel free to, if Bob's ok with that.

Anyway my choice, a classic (I didn't add, "one of their best" on there I will add) :

Number 1 in January 1983 :D

Very cool thread. Here's my nomination:

The great Edwyn Collins. Good to see him on the mend and making appearances at the summer festivals.

Why is it not hailed as an all time classic? I will never know. What a brilliant song.
