Same here. We'll never really know, but either way it's going to be an interesting race. Plus the BBC viewing figures (and worldwide of course) will go through the roof!

I think it's genuine too. I certainly don't think he'll be in the car next season, should the worst come to the worst and Massa still can't drive. I think he may take a race or two to get back into it properly - especially considering he probably hasn't driven an F1 car for an hour and a half non-stop since he quit - but I think he'll be out-qualifying and out-racing Kimi within a couple of races.

Schumacher's never driven with the KERS before, has he? That should make it interesting.

This is my first season really watching F1 and it's definitely set the bar high.

Well I agree, I think it's genuine.. Colours to the mast, I hope he wins a race, just to prove being nearer 40 than 20, ain't no bad thing.

I'm actually gonna go to the bookies tomorrow and put a tenner on that Schuey will win a race before the end of the season.

Can't you download Firefox?

I am intrigued by Schumacher's return. Mr Kendra K thinks it's going to be terrible.

Well I don't see why not, he hasn't raced for a few years so he's rusty, has a back injury, Ferrari haven't won a race this session, he's not driven the car yet, never used KERS...

a few points on schumi's return.

I'm a big big fan of him and have followed him since 1994.

Schumi would not have taken on the drive if he didn't think he could still perform.
He proved that he was the fastest man ever when he came from dead last with a dodgy car too end up 4th and only 20 seconds behind team mate fillipe in the 2006 brazilian grand prix.

The bookies are putting 4/1 on that schumi will win a race before the end of the season. I say take the bet as it would be a good bet too take on that. If it rains. Especially at spa. Watch out. Schumi will show his class.

Kers will not be a problem for him. It is a button too press after the car has stabilised and does not have any loss of traction.
If he decides not too use kers. Ferrari have the resorce too take kers out. And be able too build the car and able too gain the ballest so that schumi can make the car too his liking.

Schumi has already tested a f2007 with gp2 slick tyres. He was on the pace within a lap or 2 and set a time of 1'21''3. This is very competative. In which the cars were lapping at them speeds. Ok. You'll say that they were on grooved tyres 2 years ago. BUT the gp2 tyres will not have the grip that the formula 1 tyres of this year. And for that fact the grip of 2 years ago.

Schumi has been karting for the last 2 days. In which he has quoted too say that the turning force is more so in the kart than a formula 1 car.

Schumi is having twinges in his neck at the moment. Which i feel is just lack of time with g forces. That will get better and when he goes in for his medical too approve his health for racing. I'm certain that schumi will be there.

I feel that schumi will spend 99% of friday testing too get him back up too speed. Schumi has 3 new engines and i'm sure ferrari will bring the 3 engines with the least milage so that they can be used and schumi can get all the miles he wants. I suspect 50 - 60 laps in the morning and 40 - 50 laps in the afternoon.

I hope that schumi will be able too race with every driver. By that i mean renault have not had their appeal yet against there suspension from the grand prix yet.. So we may not see fernando alonso race yet. The main people we want too see as fans are
schumi vs raikkonen (intresting of team mate now.)
Schumi vs hamilton. (this is every formula 1 drivers dream. These two hard driving hard defending drivers will be very intresting)

I can't wait for the grand prix.

In closing here. Don't bet against schumi. Remember mansell in 94. He won the australian grand prix. Aged 42. Schumi's only 40. And we will all see vintage schumi. Set your recorders if you haven't ever seen schumi. Because this is like a last hurrah

wireman2004, are you James Allen?

Excellent, you've been a fan since he became World Champion for the first time. Nothing like picking someone to support in their early days.

I'm not quite sure I follow tophers point there, but anyway...
Wireman, it's nice to see someone so passionate about an f1 driver! I wouldn't say I followed shuey as a fan although I've always liked him ( I've always tended to go for the underdog- I was a huge jordan fan in the day...) but I don't think anyone can deny Schumacher was/is one of the worlds best racing drivers, and I'm so excited in seeing him race again in a few weeks.

That's an awful lot of words to just basically say "if he didn't think he could do ok, he wouldn't have come back". And I think we all knew that anyway.

well zoot, my stoty of how i came too support himm was down too my dad bringing me in on that fsteful day of may 1st 94. andx he was the first driver i saw after the crash of senna.

Now i am not only passionate about the support, Not just of schumi, but for hamilton now. (I watched him in GP2 and was very very impressed)
but i am passionate for the sport in general. I could go on for days. (too my girlfriends annoyence) anout formula 1.

I'd be intrested too know whenm people started watching formula 1 for the first time. And if they have any season review videos.

As for me, San marino Grand prix 1994, and thats about 250 - -300 grtand prix later too bring me too today.

I also have every grand prix review since 1985. (i was born 17th December 1986) and hope too add too trhe collection and maybe go back too 1980 or something. Maybe i will go back as far as possible with videos and have the whole history of formula 1.

So A pretty vast knowlage. and also looking a with the fia website, i also read up on the regulations, (although i've not done that for 5 years due too lack of internet access)

How very morbid of you.

I started watching properly some time in 1992. The year Mansell won it. Although I seem to remember support Ricado Patrese, his team mate, just for a laugh.

ricardo patrese was a very sound driver. Could of won the championship in the famous 1982 year. I was only 7 when i started watching in 94.

Latest schumi news is that the final call about his fitness will be made by him. But reports coming out is that schumacher broke his neck in a motorbike accident earlier in the year. (i think it was february) schumi racing is still not 100% confirmed.

They were not reports coming in yesterday - that was always known and was always a factor.

Zoot wrote:http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/11082009/58/schumacher-calls-comeback.html

Schumacher is no longer racing

I don't think it's massively surprising - although the accident was a while ago and in normal day-to-day activities probably wouldn't hinder him, those cars are subject to massive amounts of G-force. Disappointing though, would have been interesting to see.

Marc Gené then?
