Just wondered if anyone has one? I'm thinking of getting one on a £25 quid a month deal, 800mins and unlimited texts.

I think it looks like a great deal, but does anyone have that phone and if so is it any good?

Tar! :D

I THINK that's the phone my boss has - if so, ive had a play with it. Seem's "alright" but ... don't hate me ... the iPhone is much better (especially for the touch screen - the nokia was very faffy).

As I say, it might be a slightly different phone she has.

I figured it wouldn't be quite as good as the iPhone, but unfortunately I don't think I can afford to get me one of them. :(

My current phone is dying on me, good ol' Sony Ericsson W810i, need to get me a new one and thought this phone looked alright.

I always feel that since you are going to be stuck with a phone for whatever the length of the contract is, you should try and have a play of one before you purchase it. Go into one of the high street stores and have a go on one.

Phones are very personal things - what I love about mine would confuse the hell out my Dad. What he loves about his is that it fits in his pocket. Asking a bunch of people what they think about a phone is, in my opinion, never going to get a consensus. Unless it's the iPhone which is, and I don't use this word lightly, "fabby".

My sister is exceptionally good at spending a lot of money on phones she doesn't like then breaking them. Two have gone down the toilet.

I'm another iPhone fan, but one of the good things about the introduction of the iPhone is that it's kicked a lot of other manufacturers up the backside and they're now producing similar ones - like the Nokia. As far as I can tell none of them are quite up to the iPhone standard yet (apart from maybe the Pre, but I haven't got my hands on one to try yet) - but if you're not that bothered or can't afford the iPhone then you can't go far wrong with one of the others either.

I hate touch phone mobiles, just can't get used to them, I'd rather have a decent one with buttons.

It crashes a lot if the ones I've seen at work are anything to go by. Pretty much the same story as any other new Nokia in recent years. No doubt be better once the firmware's been upgraded a few times like any other new Nokia in recent years too.

Beadle Poke wrote:I went into the orange shop and checked out one of those 5800, had a lil demo and thought it was neat and tidy. Had a go on the texting and found the touch malarky to be quite good. You can download lots of applications for it too which is quite cool. Trouble with the iphone is that it's the size of a brick privvy. This Nokia 5800 is compact and neat. it also has massive memory and comes with great sounding head phones so can be used for tunes too. AND it has wi-fi so can hook up to wireless networks.

It came out in march, so it won't be long before a new nokia touchscreen comes out, but I still think it's a steal for £23 for 200 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data or £28 for 400 mins etc. (18 month contract) My contract is on it's 15month now so eligible for an upgrade, but might wait until 18 months to see if I can squeeze a beter deal, but I'm pretty sure this is the phone for me.

Beadle Poke gives the Nokia5800 the thumbs up.

Is this Beadle's first positive post???

Oh yoghurt pots are a health and safety overkill started by Blue Peter. It needs bean cans, you just have to be careful of the sharp edge.

Really? I didn't think health and safety jobsworths existed back then.

Oh, speaking of health and safety, did anyone see that woman on Dragon's Den last week with her device to thread cables through walls? It was brilliant - funny to see roles reversed in some ways.

She got £30,000 more than she asked for and two other offers for the same money and the same proportion of the business that she was offering in return.

Well thats a result! The only one I remember from this series so far was the telephone nuisance call filter system. I have to say, i would buy that.
