I came up with a new game to replace the Golden Hour poll (as I was getting bored posting it each week and seeing it getting 3 votes ).

As alot of people including myself are getting bored with the 'no songs from before 1990' Golden Hour on the Moyles Show, I thought I'd create one here!

I'll choose a year, and you can nominate a song you like from that year, just like the team do. Post a youtube link if possible. When about eight songs have been nominated (one per person please ) then I'll create a poll, and we can vote for our favourite.

Let this outstanding vocalist who had the original hit with this song cure you all of the damage done by the Fugees to a beautiful melody. (Not that I don't think Lauryn Hill also has an amazing voice of course). And I know it says 1972, I think it was a hit earlier in the USA.

Actually - I meant to say last night - shameful as it is to admit it - that was the first time I have heard that version of Killing Me Softly and I really liked it. I have hated The Fugees version since the day I first heard it and could never work out how it spent so long at number one. I think that was the first time I started to get disillusioned with the charts.

Well the original single version wasn't exactly the same obviously, but its just Roberta Flack's vocal quality and her brilliance at telling the story which makes her version so outstanding. She had such a voice. Still does I expect, that video was recorded somewhere in the early nineties I believe but she hadn't lost any of her quality at that point, no reason to think she has now either.

Hopefully this game can show Radio 1 management the gems that lie hidden from them, thanks to their boring rules!
