I got four this morning, I was quite happy with that. The only one I didn't know was Ian Beale's real name.

I got 5, but only because of a lucky guess with Alaska. I knew the others.

I knew Alaska, I didn't know Barbie and I should have got 'dozens' and feel stupid that I didn't.

And so you should!

I don't remember but the answer was absolutely right and Dom was being incredibly thick about it. Carrie got quite annoyed with him (I was watching at the time) because he was being so dense. I don't blame her, i'd have slapped his baldy head!

I'm not sure exactly, but it was pretty much "I'm a word, I have six letters - take away one and twelve remains".

A word i know, six letters it contains, subtract just one, and twelve is what remains. I think

I didn't get it either  or the Barbie question. Just 3 for me this week.

I only got 2 this week, the Eminem one and the Dozens one. I knew it would of been Ian Beale but I had no idea what the actors name was.
Oh, and I guessed 'baby' for the barbie question.

I saw Adam Woodyatt in panto as a kid (can't remember who as though), so I remembered his name from that.

The only other one I got right was Eminem.

How? If the word you need contains six letters, it clearly isn't 'dozen', as that is five letters - not to mention the fact that taking one of the letters doesn't leave you with twelve in any way.

People seem unable to grasp that the question was clearly asking for the six letter word, not the word which remained. Its basic lack of English comprehension - I blame text speak!

Possibly. What's that got to do with text speak being a factor in the general decline of English comprehension? Which is my (somewhat less than serious) opinion, not a fact - which I feel sure I would have to point out to you at some point, so I'll do it sooner rather than later.

What did she get for the first time in 2000 was the question.

In fairness, if the word "dozen" were to decline out of the English language, I'm not sure anyone would miss it. The word "twelve" does the job quite well.

Or "thirteen" if you're a baker.

I have often wondered where it came from. There isn't a special word for any other number unless you count the modern gambling slang, and that's completely different.

In French: douze = twelve (amongst other possible explanations)

Probably gained significance as a counting system because with each thumb you can count 12 finger joints on each hand.
