You could be right actually, but I would imagine it'll be a straight sets win.

Full men's draw.

I wouldn't back Nadal either; it's a shame for him, I kind of think it would be wise of him to pull out... it's clearly a concern and while he wouldn't want to miss the biggest tournament on the calendar, he certainly shouldn't be risking further long-term damage.

Rafael Nadal has called a press conference at 19.00 to announce his intention (or lack thereof) to play at Wimbledon.

Thats later than was originally intended - I heard this morning that he was speaking to the press at 1500.

Laura Robson kicks off proceedings on the new Court Number Two... so three show courts at Wimbledon now then? I didn't realise this until today. Anyway - she's a break up for 2-0 against Daniela Hantuchova. Early days, but an impressive start. I promise unless anything major happens, I won't post again until at leas the end of the first set....

First set to Robson. Well then.

The thing I like about her is that she can serve, as well as do all the other stuff. So often you see women players with fabulous ground strokes, and loads of power, but they can't volley, they can't attack and they often can't serve. Robson appears to be heading towards being able to do all those things. If there is one thing that stands out as a negative, she needs to be quicker around the court. Minor point though.

She can work on her movement though, she has time on her side.

She plays intelligently, which no other woman on the circuit does at the moment. Which is what Yudster said basically, but what the hell. She also seems to fear no one and play well under pressure - that's a major plus, particularly with the British tabloid press. Speaking of which, how long before the Daily Mail are complaining about her being fat / thin / ugly?

Playing like this, she could win this match.

She's a break up in the second now.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Women's tennis sucks hard enough at the moment without the good looking ones getting knocked out on day one.

If you're classing Hantuchova in that group then women's tennis clearly sucks on every level.

1-1 in sets now... but no one could have expected her to win in straight sets. Even if she loses this third one, she's done herself proud.

She could have won that you know. I think she was beaten by inexperience as much as by her opponent. A very impressive perfomance though.

I agree about inexperience... the errors just crept in, but yes she could have won it. I am trying not to get enthusiastic about her, but it's difficult not to when she looks so talented. (Don't do that joke you did to me in a text Yudwuk.)

Actually, when I watched the highlights last night I got the impression I was watching a girl play a boy! Daniela used to be much more attractive, I'm sure.

At least Sharapova won. Now there's real talent. And Wozniacki's on court now too. There's plenty of hotties.

Sharapova is pretty, but surely the shrieking is a big negative? You'd have to think you would need to get her to match that volume at least, otherwise the inference would be that playing tennins is more exciting than playing with you.

Or, stuff something in her mouth to get her to shut up.

All joking aside, I hate all that grunting. It never ceases to amaze me how anal Wimbledon gets about what colours they wear, yet say nothing when it comes to that annoying sound. It's high time the LTA or the ATP or whoever took a stand against it.

I think it's still the ITF who make the rules, although the ATP and the WTA organise the tournaments (besides Grand Slams). But whatever, it needs to be stamped out. Grunting as an expression of physical exertion is not a problem in the slightest; it's when it goes so totally over the top that it serves no purpose but to distract your opponent (and annoy the crowd) that's the issue. Did anyone here Michelle Larcher de Brito at the French? Her shriek lasted from when she hit the ball to when her opponent hit the ball - yet when she practises, not a sound. Ludicrous.

This Kendrick fella is playing well. Murray is having trouble handling his serve, which is maybe surprising. Going by his recent form Kendrick should be dead and buried by now, but he isn't.

Just seen the highlights of Baltacha's win over Bondarenko. What a win.

It was certainly an impressive result. Puts Ms Keothavong to shame.

I wasn't impressed with Keothavong's response. it seems harsh I know, but bursting into tears in the press room when you've lost a match - and more to the point played badly - is really not professional behaviour.

The only thing that surprised me is that Baltacha isn't the British number one in the women's. Any time I've seen her she's been the only British female that could win a match!

I vaguely remember her brother playing for St Mirren too... despite their father being a footballer, it appears she got the talent!
