Isn't it amazing how on their Drug Awareness week, the top news stories are Drug related? Have they stored them up so that they can lead with these stories this week? Convenient they discover you can catch Hep C from notes with blood on the same week Radio 1 are doing extensive coverage of the topic

The funniest thing is seeing that wanker Grimshaw getting involved in it. Every picture I see of him he's gurning like a moron.

What did the All American Rejects say?

Regarding the drugs news headline, it's not uncommon for Radio One to stick one of its own projects at the top of the news. They've done it many times before.

Katie Perry was annoying. Like any other interview I've heard of hers. I quite enjoyed listening to Lewis Hamilton though. He really is taking having a shit car this season well.

I was worried Chris may interview her in that way & being her I thought she would play along with it. Obviously not though, oh well

Such a difference to when Chris was interviewing Yasmina & Kate from the Apprentice on Monday where he seemed to be flirting with Yasmina non stop & she played along with it.

the katy perry interview was total car crash radio. I'm sure many people didn't feel comfortable with that interview. I got the feeling that chris was going through the motions too get the interview over with.

Oh yeah. I had a look on twitter. And both katy perry and chris's twitter have exactly what was said and it wasn't just for the radio.

I think that the interview was possibly worse than drew barrymore. (i think.)

I think she DID play along with it, but just not in a good way. She was trying to give it back and it really didn't work. I don't think it was the same kind of bad as Drew Barrymore et al, it was a whole new kind of bad. And I think it was her not him really. I'm not sure quite what else Chris could have done with her. Other than slap her which I get the feeling he would have rather liked to do.

Ed Pummelon wrote:Why? Are references to drug banned during Drug Awareness Week or whatever it is. Or only references not pre-approved by Radio 1 management? Smacks of the BBC walking on eggshells as normal. Oh god, I said smack.

Well seeing as they even dub out the word 'drug' from every bloody song, and this week is about advising people on the dangers of taking them, then you get 2 American artists come on and pretty much make a joke of taking drugs, it hardly goes with what their trying to do.

I thought good music only comes about through drug misuse. Bands that don't indulge prove this point.

The advice has been shameful.

"If you don't want to get Hep C, use a clean note...."

Duh, how about, "Don't take drugs you * numpties"

There are parallels to that nonsense everywhere you look these days though. And the results are in every hostel, care home, housing estate and police cell in the county.

I haven't heard the Katy Perry thing yet but it is all well and good saying the guests should/could play along with Chris, but the fact that he doesn't even attempt to do even a partial interview hampers things massively when there is no chemistry between him and his guest.

We have all met people who we don't click with and to try to laugh and joke with them would be impossible and embarrassing and that is how I find a lot of Moyles's conversations with guests.

If their isn't natural chemistry he should keep it simple, ask questions with a slight bit of banter and just move on. Its when he persists with flirting/joviality/pub banter type conversation with people he doesnt click with that we get the problems.

I expected Lewis to be a complete * (young rich sportsman with pop star American girlfriend) but I was really really impressed with him, he could take a joke and seemed genuninely interested in being there

Not heard Katy yet but will later or maybe tomorrow

Listening to the Moyles Show today then listening to George Lamb afterwards at 10 showed what a better interviewer Lamb is than Moyles. I know Lamb isn't the most popular fella to alot of people, but at least he can conduct a decent interview without a hint of the 'I'm such a perv' act to fall back on.

Oh and if you listen to digital stations, they leave some rude words in songs, like drugs. They even leave some swearing in!

My Radio 1 listening has dropped to an all-time low lately...most days I only listen to Moyles, I only listened a bit longer today to hear Coxy!

Oh and as to the how has Lewis Hamilton changed comment....I think he is still a nice guy, just doing things like moving to Switzerland after complaining about being hassled too much in England and getting a Pussycat Doll for a girlfriend seem odd things to do!

His girlfriend is incredibly annoying by the way :D

That's why I like 6Music & I think the only reason no one complains is because the audiences (compared to Radio 1, Capital, etc.) are much lower in comparisson due to the amount of Digital Radios & Radio stations there are. Plus 6Music's play list is so much better :D

I agree, Radio 1's DJ's on a whole are rather poor these days. The only shows I would listen too would be Moyles, Coxy, Chappers & Dave and Vernon Kay, the rest can bugger off. Just a shame Colin has gone, I "regret" (for want of a better word) that I never listened to his show on a regular basis, I definitely regret not listening to Peel's show at all when I was younger.

Yeah but I'd still give her one, even if she was a bit annoying

What can I say, I'm shallow

Plus the low audiences mean that there's not as much point in the sections of the press with an anti-BBC agenda trying to whip their readers up into a frenzy about them, as there aren't enough readers listening to care. Much more productive to go for the bigger target, especially as they're getting the reaction they want (both from the readers and the BBC):

I prefer "take as much shit as you want - in fact, take more - you're a waste of space anyway and the world would be better off without you" but I'm quite extreme when it comes to such things.

OK, I've just got through the Katy Perry interview to the point where Lewis Hamilton introduces himself, and I've got to switch off. What an unbelievably annoying woman. I assume Chris goes into perv mode later in the interview as up until this point he's been nowhere near as bad as with some other female guests, but frankly who cares?

She's got nothing to say, and is saying it none stop, loudly, in the most fake annoying whining voice I've ever heard - it's like nails down a blackboard. Maybe she's deep and perceptive with an astronomical IQ in real life, I've no idea, but I can't take anymore of this vapid, "oh isn't everything just wonderful look at my sparkly jacket I love you more mwah" routine. She makes Paris Hilton seem dignified. First time I've ever skipped an interview, but I'm not listening to anymore of this shit.

EDIT: Christ, how long did this interview go on for, I can't find the end of it? 8O

The difference between the 2 interviews is amazing. Much prefer Lewis' - based on that comment Ed I don't think I'll bother listnening back.

Lets hope they don't put much of it on the podcast with the amount of guests they've had this week

It went on until 9.40  They were so late for the news. I think the main reason was because she wouldn't shut up

The government will make all drugs legal soon, so they can tax it and buy more duck houses and pay our £1 Trillion debt......
