Hmmmm. Was I hearing things today or is Michael bloody Macintyre going to be on the show tomorrow? The same Macintyre who got very annoyed at Chris doing an unflattering impression of him at the TV BAFTA's?

This got me wondering about the guest policy....who chooses the guests? Management or the DJ's? Seems a bit odd that a guest that Chris made fun of gets booked for his show...

By the way, I detest Macintyre, so interested in hearing how the interview goes tomorrow!

I'm guessing having a new show to plug means he's forced himself to get over it pretty quickly. I was always under the impression that Chris filtered out who he wanted on from a list, and then Rachel booked them. No idea if that's right though.

MacIntyre's agent also looks after other top BBC talent and wields a lot of power within the BBC. He could get MacIntyre on almost any show he wanted. Moyles obviously hates his schtick and will resent having him on. Will be awkward.

It's just the promo rounds. Didn't Michael MacIntyre appeared as quizmaster on Moyles' quiz night? Was that before or after the award show incident?

MacIntyre is also on The One Show tomorrow. Have to say think I'll be checking out his TV show when that starts

MacIntyre, Grimshaw, fakes I can spot a mile off, bring the * on, watch him dance the Chris Rock fandango on his head, can't wait. I couldn't work out whether Alan Buggar will be on the phone or in the studio with his zimmer frame when I listened this morning, should be good either way.

So far none of the above is even close. Its going very well, they're both relaxed and funny and getting on fine. Dave and Rachel are enjoying themselves too. And there have been one or two hilarious moments.

Grimshaw I will give you, what do you find fake about MacIntyre, oh great judge of personality?

Is it cool to dislike Michael MacIntyre? I know his rise to fame has been pretty quick and for good reason in my opinion - he's a far better observational comedian than Peter Kay. I have really been looking forward to him being on this morning because I thought they would get on well, despite the reports from the BAFTAs and I have really enjoyed it up to when I arrived at work.

I thought McIntrye was absolutly brilliant. One of the best, definatly. He totally got the show and didn't just do 'gags all the time.

It was also nice to have a guest thats not on the show all the time!

MacIntyre, like Russell Howard, Frankie Boyle and so on, has been around for years on the live circuit but has only recently been picked up by TV, hence the apparent quick rise to fame. There are tons of comedians doing the rounds playing gigs night after night - a small percentage get picked up by TV, and suddenly everyone knows about them.

I understand that, but his rise to fame appears to have been quicker than most for some reason.. although maybe I'm imagining that.

Hmm, i remember seeing MacIntyre on the comedy store from 2000ish doing a great tony blair impression and a decent set after that : i hadn't heard much from him between that and a great radio feature he did on tottenham in the carling cup final as a pre-match build up.

I'm not quite sure everyone thinks Chris would hate him : he just seems like a nice guy, and very funny. I thought the interview went really well, but there was no mention of the BAFTAs moment which i was disappointed with, apart from when chris did his impression and micheal laughed.

Juan Knill almost killed me on the way into work!

Tulip and Carrie were notably absent throughout...

Judging by the webcam, they weren't in the studio.

I thought Tulip read the news from the studio though, as I thought you could hear them in the background at the very start of the bulletin

Michael MacIntyre was an absolutely fantastic guest. Best one for ages. Hilarious show this morning. Interesting fact: his father used to write for/direct Kenny Everett's TV shows.

I was judging by the webcam, which only updates every 10 minutes. I'm not making claims of stopwatch accuracy.

I wasn't saying you were. I was nowhere near a computer to see the webcam

I agree with you, I saw his Live At The London Palladium show & he was great.

I think the "hate" between the two has been blown out of all proportion by our wonderful media again

I think Michael MacIntyre is brilliant. And he was a great guest. My fast-skipping technique owes everything to him.

I like Michael McIntyre and I thought he was a good guest, altho I did miss the beginning of the interview. It is correct that there seems to be a backlash against him now - I think he's been judged by some to be a 'new Peter Kay' in the sense that he's very accessible and not at all edgy - and the fact he's touring arenas now is testament to that accessibility. I don't think there's necessarily anything wrong with that tho. He does a great routine about saying letters of the alphabet over the phone and using the phonetic alphabet which, as someone who has to take hundreds of names and postcodes over the phone every day, I found very amusing.

Stars who rise too fast are always given a beating here*. I've always viewed it as a rather British phenomenon. Sometimes I even join the bandwagon if they're annoying enough.

I thought this guy was great though, despite having no idea who he was. In fact, I hadn't even made the connection with the awards thing, because at the time you were all discussing it I had a heavy work day and didn't look at the videos, or even read the thread properly. I may go and do that now.
