Scarily, someone wrote in to my local paper opposing the Gurkha's desire to live in England, saying 'they are mercenaries and should be sent back to Nepal'. They weren't being tongue-in-cheek. One might argue that all soldiers are mercenaries, as they are doing it for money after all.
