I understood the OP (although I do know what you're talking about though, it's starting to become more common on here)

As for me I'd say get Georgina Bowman in, she was always great on the Afternoon show, however someone (can't remember who at present) mentioned on another thread that they thought she had left/taken a back seat (I think she used to be head newsreader before her maternity leave although may not be at present).

...and yes, all news these days is miserable. Watch the Marilyn Manson interview in the movie Bowling for Columbine for a surprisingly insightful view of the modern media, and damn correct too. To sum up, the modern media wants to keep you afraid, and keep you consuming.

Georgina is still at Newsbeat. She confirmed on Facebook she's back from the birth of her baby and has since appeared on one story as a reporter.

Jonathan lives in the US now and is Newsbeat's US reporter. He mentioned this while on with Greg.

Chris Smith very much appears to be Newsbeat's 3rd choice behind Dom and Tulip at the moment. He filled in while Tulip had a couple of weeks off in March and is filling in at the moment while Tulip is on breakfast with Scott.

My money is on Tulip doing Chris's show, and Chris taking over afternoons, though I'd like guest Newsreaders, like they've done with Carrie when she's been off in the past.

Oh she is, great, I liked her on the afternoon show, a rather soothing voice, although I imagine now that she takes more of a back seat since having the baby (From what I remember on Wonkypedia they put her as head Newsreader with Dominic second, I wonder who is considered "head newsreader" now?)
