You didn't you just sounded sexist!

Well done on spotting the missing H, you know I'd've taken the piss!

Close enough, they both begin with the same letter at least.

Not a good mix up though! Scathing is good, sexist is silly!

How about: confused about removing files from your iPod, you do deserve a Zune.

As sharp as a page of Oscar Wilde witticisms, rolled up into a point, sprinkled with lemon juice and jabbed into someone's eye.

The new podcasts won't fit on, it costs money to but a new DAP, and it's free to remove older podcasts (that you couldn't listen to all of in an entire day) from the DAP. This is not an intelligence test that anyone should fail.

Ahhh. I rarely use my Zen so I wouldn't come across that problem.

I wonder if Console actually has a face. All I imagine now is a series of dots n'shit.

I've always seen Console as the witty sarcastic computer system on a popular british Sci-fi comedy sitcom.

Erm I have tried removing loads - I also tried removing loads of the music so that it was nearly just podcasts - for some reason it doesn't like it and just automatically adds its own playlist. Thanks though, I will try again before purchasing a new 1, would just be nice to have a variety to choose from!

Thanks for pointing out the gender S4B!

That probably answers your question!

Ah, that could be your problem.
When you plug your ipod in, does it try to sync with the entire library or do you have a single playlist set up that goes on to the ipod?

see, another reason why itunes is rubbish. Why does it do that?

yeah, I remember that. I just don't know why it does that. Creative software doesn't (although you can tell it to if you want it to).

Personally, If your ipod is big enough I think defaulting to putting everything on was the better way to do it.

charlalottie wrote:Well when you open iTunes up with your iPod plugged in so it has all the information about your iPod and stuff, does it have the box ticked where it says automatically sync? Just it sounds like it's ticked if you keep deleting stuff and it's adding stuff off it's own accord. You'll need to have unticked, go into the music part of the iPod menu on the side rather than the iTunes side and delete the stuff you don't want and then it'll stay off the iPod as long as you don't tick the sync box again.

Ah no ok I do that. It syncs what's in the library but I don't have everything ticked, same as the podcasts. Now when I load it it comes up with a message that there is too much to sync so it will 'choose its own' (or words to that effect) and that's when it picks what it likes, ticked or not. I've tried unticking the auto-sync and unticking loads more but it seems to tell me there's too much no matter what I do!

I say iPod Touch. It's just like an iPhone but without the phone bit. If it's for the train then you can watch video, play games etc. Seriously I can almost live my whole life through this device. I'd be screwed without it
Once you get to grips with how iTunes works it's usually okay.

16GB should be enough. Although I'm holding out for a new 32GB iPhone come June.

My player is 16gb but if I put my entire cd collection on there, like my bro does on his, it wouldn't be nearly enough. As it is I'm fairly selective.

I have a smart playlist in iTunes, set to contain my most recently added music (newest first), limited by the total capacity of iPod minus 1GB (to allow room for photos, contacts etc). This is set to live update, meaning that at any time, my iPod is full of my newest music.

Included in this is a subset of other smart playlists sorting by Genre, Rating etc. Therefore I can also drill down through the music on the iPod using these criteria, as well the usual Artist / Album name and so on.

In the subset I also have a smart playlist of old Chris Moyles shows, sorted by date of show, and included in the criteria is "where playcount is less than 1". This means that when I've listened to it, the iPod knows to take it off the playlist, so the old ones "disappear" as I go through the archive. In addition if you set each show to remember the playback position, you can always pick up where you left off.

I know this is geeky, but it works a treat.

That is geeky, but I like it. It's not the way I would organise my own but it appeals to my sense of order and organisation. I'm very OCD about stuff like that.

Since I set it up I've been able to just forget about it, and have everything where I want on the player at any time, so it works great for me. However I agree there is definitely a touch of OCD about it. I was only thinking that myself this morning as I went back to check I'd locked the front door.

I just untick those songs/podcasts I don't want on there.

I really should spend more time looking at it!

Tried again yesterday with the iPod - got it down to just under 200 songs and a few podcasts, and still says there's too much to put on there, even after restoring it. It starts to sync as soon as I connected the iPod without enough time for me to select 'sync only those checked' When I try and do this after and hit 'apply' it says it can't find the iPod

I have user profiles setup on my pc at home, the Mrs has hers, with her iTunes, she has a Nano I think which isnt big enough to hold all the music, so I just create play lists and put the music she wants into them. Makes it easier to find thing I think as well.
Mine is a 60Gb Ipod, with all my music on it. Its good but its got a lot of crap on there that needs deleting from my iTunes. Also I think the hard disk in my Ipod is stating to fail, it randomly stops and hangs, you have to do a reset on it in order to get it playing again...

I have got a way around so I don't have to use iTunes, Its called Media Monkey, its ok but I am used to iTunes now so I didn't really bother with it.
