I'm not sure if many people on here actually like Green Day, but I thought I'd give it a try.

What do you think of the new album, 21st Century Breakdown? I think it's quite listenable but it's just generic run of the mill Green Day, same old really.

Thoughts?

I find Green Day very easy to listen to, always have. I do find the description of them as a "punk" band completely laughable though. I was there from 1976 onwards, Green Day wouldn't have lasted 30 seconds in any punk club.

I'm looking forward to hearing it. I think it's more pop-punk than proper punk, but I like them all the same.

Just don't ask Kendra what she thinks.

I loved them back in 1993/4 - they sounded really fresh and different then. Now they're so mainstream, they just bore me. I've filed them alongside Foo Fighters and Chili Peppers as once great bands that went radio-friendly and dull a fair few years ago.

I'm listening to it at the moment and so far I'm maybe slightly disappointed. Although I'm listening to it through headphones and obviously it's better through speakers. My main thought at the moment is it lacks a proper anthem. My favourite song from American Idiot was Holiday and there is nothing as upbeat as that so far.

Everything up to, and including American Idiot was awesome. American Idiot was a * brilliant album. The new single though does nothing for me :(

I'll grab the album at some point, but based on 'Know Your Enemy', i'm in no rush to get it.

I'm in the "everything up to and including Dookie plus American Idiot was awesome" camp. Admittedly the name doesn't roll of the tongue.
