Quarter 1, 2009. The stations arn't told until 3pm in the afternoon so there is no way of somebody letting it slip (Dave) in the morning.

I highly doubt it. To do that Chris would have to make up nearly 1 million listeners. Considering that he has added around 1.8 million over 5 years, I would take a huge bet that he isn't going to add a whole million listeners over 3 months.

Sorry.

Wogan and Moyles are so close to each other now:

May 07, 2009 - As radio listener figures climb inexorable higher Radio 1’s Chris Moyles rises ever upward as Radio 2 stays static. Moyles, after his well publicised trip to Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief saw his audience rise from 7.30 million to 7.70 million.

While BBC Radio had a good quarter generally, Radio 2 saw a slight drop in its share while Wake Up To Wogan dropped down to 7.78 million from 8.10 million last year.

Radio 4 and Radio 5 Live both saw their audiences grow, 4 enjoying almost 10 million listeners every week – its highest reach since 2003. Its flagship Today show saw its reach go from 6.42m to 6.69m this quarter. Radio 5 Live and its digital sister Sports Extra attracted 6.32 million, a four year high.

Across the BBC digital networks, BBC 6 Music saw a seventh consecutive spike in its audience with 681,000 listeners, while BBC Radio 7 edged ever closer to the million mark with a record 984,000 listeners a week. The BBC Asian Network has 405,000 listeners and 1Xtra has a reach of 616,000.

Radio 3’s stayed steady at 1.99 million, the BBC World Service increased its reach to 1.47 million – up from 1.35m last year.

Tim Davie, Director BBC Audio and Music, said: “These figures are excellent news for the radio industry and digital radio in particular. Radio remains as relevant and popular as ever and the growth in digital listening – powered by DAB – is particularly encouraging.”

According to Aleds Twitter the show now has 8.9 million listeners now if you include 4+ age range.

May 07, 2009 - Capital FM remains the home of the most listened too commercial radio breakfast show in London, with Johnny and Lisa now attracting over a million listeners every week.

RAJAR figures show Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon are pulling in a total of 1,066,000 listeners per week from 6-10am, up 9 per cent on the previous quarter, with a market share of 5.8 per cent up from 5.6 per cent on the last quarter.

Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Harriet Scott retain the number two position in the London commercial breakfast slot, achieving 833,000 listeners per week from 6-9am, with Neil Fox on Magic in third position.

Excellent news and richly deserved. Well done Chris, Dave, Rachel, Aled, Dom and Carrie. And to a lesser extent Matt Fincham.

Nice article, although you can hardly say Chris is down on his biggest ever... technically he is of course, but by such a small margin that it's hardly worth mentioning. That said, how close is he to Wogan now, even without the younger age range. I didn't see it getting that close.

Aside from the fact that you will go for a stroll if Wogan retires, which I find quite odd... when Chris outdoes him?! How can you possibly present a potential future event as though it's inevitable when it couldn't be much further from inevitable?

I'd just like to add my congratulations to the team as well, they have been thoroughly entertaining since I started regulary listening again in November 2008, up there with their Afternoon Show peak of 1999-2002 :D
