OK maybe they werent franticaly phoning but tAled did phone Ben Cooper and the head of BBC publicity. He said that on here. And Chris's agent also said she had phoned senior people to make sure the story wasnt true

Also.. what evidence are people using to predict Chris will leave by the end of the year? I don't see it myself. You're making predictions like The Sun, but without the means to print it for three million people to read.

I was offering my own personal opinion hence I didn't feel the need to present evidence.

However, if you wish to know my reasoning for arriving at this opinion then here it is. The Breakfast gig, history shows, has a shelf life. True, he could buck this trend and go on for years more. But I suspect that he knows the gig has a shelf life, as will his agent manager etc, and they will have been planning his next career move for some years, as I doubt that after the Breakfast show they want his career to stagnate or go backwards as it could be argued happened to many of the previous Breakfast hosts over the years. The 'softening ' of his image has been carefully stage managed in recent years, giving some very high exposure - X Factor, Live Earth, the books (and subsequent TV interviews) and now of course, in what is his fifth year as host, just 5 months or so away from the record, the C4 TV show, which according to a couple of reviewers I've seen who would normally love to slate him have grudgingly admitted that the show is actually quite good.

Putting all this together, my OPINION is that, being a top professional as he is with professional pride, he would want to bow out on a high and choose his departure date and not be shuffled out, and once the record has been broken, assuming the show is still bringing in high ratings, there would be little else for him to achieve in the slot and it would be a good time to move on. I still reckon he'll mix radio up with TV, but in what format remains to be seen.

Your "writing" style would probably get you a job at the Sun you know.

Great excitement, not since the 'the mott' have we had a 'journalist' slagg off Chris and be totally beaten down with the rubbish and unfactual information written. All we need is someone from the The Daily Sport to slagg him and he'll get the hattrick.

The Comments section from the Aled story has been removed. Can't think why.

'The Sport' had a whinge about the Lorry Driver thing, only for lorry drivers everywhere to phone in supporting Chris..all the way.

Fair enough - I understand it was your opinion, but I was interested in how you got to that opinion.

I appreciate the job has a 'shelf life', but I can't see him leaving before the end of the year. That said, I could be wrong and I agree about softening his image and probably trying to manage the next stage of his career.

Are you having a laugh? It's clearly been registered with the express intention of discussing the incident with Chris. I've never seen a more blatant fake.

Oh I did enjoy that sooo much. Well done Chris and Aled. LOVED it. Eloquence that could never & will never be matched by The Scum. I am in awe of his ability to maintain a steady stream of outrage mixed with a good dose of sarcasm without slipping or hesitating once.

That is true, well bring on some more of the broadsheets and let him take on all the written press.

In that case you should choose your words more carefully. Saying "Judging by the way Aled and Chris's agent were franticaly phoning people on saturday" when actually you are only aware that two people have made one call each and you have no idea whether they were frantic, excited, angry, or merely calm, is exactly the kind of thing Gordon Smart would do.

How is she trying to pick a fight with you? She's just telling you that coming to unfounded conclusions is the sort of thing a bad tabloid journalist does. Come to think of it, why on earth would Gordon Smart wish to pick a fight with you?!

No, he tells lies about people. I am being very factual here. And I'm not picking a fight, merely pointing out your inconsistencies.

I've been going through the comments on The Sun web site and I've finally read a reasonably sensible one:
Simply wont happen, Radio 1 aren't stupid, they know he is the golden goose.

Oh, and going back to his link for Smart, I'm pleased he cleared up the Auschwitz comment too... too many people have been picking up on that.

hi everone, new member here and a big fan of chris and the team!

can i add my 2 pence worth here, clearly the sun and bizzare have an anti chris agenda, but the fact the these so called "news" papers can get away with printing blatant lies is just digraceful, and surely todays attack on aled is just a personal slur and completley below the belt, and some would say libalous! how smart can justify writing this stuff to his editors, and i belive that dominc Mohan is one of the editors now, is just unbelivable. The radio 1 breakfast show does has a shelf life but chris is nowhere near the end of that shelf life, and 8 million listners would testify to that.

just my oppinion as a new member! and hope i havent repeated anything on previous threads!
