The Sun reports this morning:

The Sun wrote:CONTROVERSIAL CHRIS MOYLES, the self-proclaimed “Saviour of Radio 1”, is on his way OUT of the station’s flagship breakfast show.

He will be axed this year after he becomes the slot’s longest-serving host in September.

Chris, 35, is set to smash TONY BLACKBURN’s record of five years, nine months in the hot-seat.

But BBC bosses want a rising star for the prestigious job amid criticism that the station’s line-up is now too old for its listeners.

Drivetime presenter SCOTT MILLS will be asked to step in while a replacement is readied for the prized post.

A source at Broadcasting House said: “The BBC were planning to break the news gently by convincing Chris it was his decision to quit.

“He will be totally devastated to leave. His ego will take a battering.”

Award-winning Chris, from Leeds, replaced former breakfast host SARA COX in 2004 and quickly brought back a million listeners.

The £630,000-a-year star now regularly draws more than seven million, but has often hit trouble with ill-judged comments — including a “gag” this year about Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz.

A station source said: “He’s been involved in big controversies.

Last night a Radio 1 spokesman insisted: “We’ve no plans to take Chris off breakfast. He hosts a highly successful show.”

But when asked how long Chris would stay at the station, the spokesman refused to comment.

And The Sun’s highly-placed source said: “The early plans to introduce a new generation of stars to the station are now under way.

“Chris is still in the dark about the moves behind the scenes, but Scott Mills has been made aware.”

The BBC has refuted the claims:

The BBC wrote:The BBC has denied it is axing Radio 1 breakfast show host Chris Moyles.

According to The Sun, the 35-year-old presenter will be moved aside later this year, with fellow station DJ Scott Mills stepping in while a permanent replacement is sought.

But a spokesman for the corporation said: "There are no plans to take Chris off the breakfast show," adding that he has "a hugely successful show with over seven million listeners".

Was shocked to hear news. The breakfast show is chris moyles!! I hope it isn't true I am one of the older listners (55) and I think he is great so I think the comment about Chris being too old for his listeners is a load of bull, I think he captures all age groups and in his industry age has no consequence!

Isn't it funny how the Sun stooped low enough to twitter Radio 1 Staff, and don't even realise they'd spelt Moyles wrong before posting in on about 15 people's twitter! LOSERS!!

What a surprise, another completely fabricated story from the rag that lied about the Hillsborough disaster. If this 'newspaper' restricted itself to true stories, it would be sold in the stationery department.

Please don't let it be true that you are leaving the Breakfast Show, all my family listens to you, age from 60 to 16, we want Chris to stay else who will we listen to, Scott is OK but not a patch on Chris and gang, they make us laugh so much and those paradies what will happen to them, he got millions of extra listeners who will surely leave if he does, I've always like Chris from when they used to do the Saturday show, we must keep him on the Breakfast Show. 8O

It would be such a bad move to take him off The Breakfast Show, the team and the show are getting better, and better as the years go on. And he's "24" - how is that too old I ask ya?!

Wonder how many times I have to post this before these idiots get the idea? Shall we open a book?

Wait until tomorrow's show. They might get the hint then. But something tells me there will still be folk who think he's for the off.

Well done. You've justified Mr Smart's existence.

Chris Moyles is the best thing to happen to radio 1 for a long time, the guy is a true pro. I have been listening to him since he presented the weekday early morning show, weekend breakfast, drive time show and breakfast. The breakfast show on radio 1 is first class; the team are brilliant and there is nothing better out there.

Chris may have said a few things he shouldn’t but at least he has the decency to say sorry. It’s not as if he is telling lies, hounding people or ruining peoples life’s is it? Not at all but that’s what The Sun does best!

No one is forced to listen to Chris they do it because they like him and enjoy the show.

Maybe Gordon Smart fancies himself as a DJ? He could do a show on Sun Talk or apply for the forthcoming radio 1 job?

On the actual story, this is the same paper that called for Jade Goody's head on a plate, branded her racist, tried to make everyone in Britain hate her, then compared to her to Princess Di in her final months of living. Add to that Hillsborough etc I could go on and on.

Ok, first of all "the sun" what a waste of paper and ink!

Second, to old! c'mon. I've been listening to Radio 1 since 85 and Chris is by far the most entertaining DJ that I can remember. Lets not forget his show is about the whole team and he fully includes them - I love the show. This inclusion extends to the listoners, as well.

I don't buy the sun and never would, but I do pay my licence and am happy to do so for the like's the show, Dr. Who, Torchwood etc. Speaking of which last weeks show with Capt. Jack was so funny it made a long drive pleasurable. Lets face it most of the shows are great, its just some are better than others.

Lets hope that Chris and the team continue for many more years...

PS. I joined this forum today to post support for the show and all its members - also gave opportunity to say the sun is the waste of space I thought it was/is, thats an added bonus.

Its really not my place to speak for anyone else on here, and certainly not for anyone connected with the show - but it is lovely that you and so many others have signed up to this fansite in order to show support for Chris. Personally I hope at least a few of you stick around too.

Chris was spot in on in his response to the Sun article. Honest, straight and to the point is what we expect.

I read the Sun this morning and there is no mention of their report when I was expecting "Moyles Backlash at Sun". Obviously they have bottled it and are running scared.

Sat and today are up
