Hi all,

Recently downloaded this program after hearing from some people on here (Can't remember which thread) that it is a good way to download The Chris Moyles Show. Well after successfully downloading bits of the show a couple of times, i decided to broaden my horizons!!

Well, i know this is off topic, but i would really appreciate it if you could leave it here until i at least get a reply. What i would like to know is it possible to download BBC programs in high quality on the iplayer downloader. I've been trying to download natures great events but anytime I've tried to download it, it downloads the low quality version. Does anyone know how i could download the high quality version in the iplayer downloader?

The iPlayer downloader that I believe you're referring to if the downloader that bypasses the BBC's DRM schemes by downloading the version meant for the iPhone - the iPhone doesn't have a particularly large screen and therefore doesn't need to be high-quality. If you want to download high-quality versions of BBC TV shows, you'll either have to use the official iPlayer downloader or use P2P.

Seeing as the only solution might be P2P, may I point you in the direction of www.uknova.com
Lots of British torrents from Radio and Television.

I just figured he might want it DRM free. Plus, not all the programmes on the iPlayer have the option to 'download' to the official client.
...Unless I'm missing something completely.

Cheers for the replies guys.

The download program that I'm referring to is this http://po-ru.com/projects/iplayer-downloader/. Is it not possible to download high quality off this?

As for the official iplayer downloader, I'm aware you can download high quality videos off that, but i would like to keep some of the vids and all downloads off the iplayer turn out scrambled, unless of course you use Zoom Player. The only problem with the Zoom player though is that it for some reason messes up once i put it on my extended desktop (so that i can watch the programs on the tv), it just gets a blank screen. Was hoping the iplayer downloader (the unofficial one) would have sorted this problem, never mind!

Yes, that one downloads the iPhone version of the videos - there is not higher quality version for the iPhone.

I haven't tried it, but I suspect that FairUse4WM may be able to remove the DRM on the downloaded iPlayer videos.

It sounds like a Direct X refresh rate problem - check the settings for your extended desktop (I say 'check' because I can't actually think which setting needs changing).

Does it come up with a blank screen for the iPhone downloads on your TV, too?

I wouldnt know where to start looking in the settings mate, I've googled the problem a few times over and have tried a few suggestions, but i still get the blank screen. It's not all video files mind, some work and others don't. What actually happens is that, once i start playing a file in the zoom player it works fine, then i pass it over onto the extended desktop and it goes blank, then i slide it back over and it reappears.

Nope, as i use VLC for those, the blank screen only comes up for zoom player.

EDIT: I've actually just worked out what the problem was with the zoom player. All avi files have no problem playing in the secondary monitor but all wmv files go blank. Weird :?

Little Bump!

Anyone else find that the new iplayer files wont play in Zoom player at all now? Or is it just me with an outdated version?
