The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

I have to say I thought Scott and Chappers had a couple of really good shows just before Christmas, much more spontaneity and genuiness about them than usual, less of the prank crap and more proper laughs. If they can manage to keep that going for this week, it won't be too painful to wait until Monday.

Bet they don't though.

That Dear Scott feature had me worried this morning, I actually laughed out loud at the posh newslady when she read out that they sound like the voices off Creature Comforts. I feel dirty.

I heard a bit of Greg today. Only a bit. Who the hell rings a radio station in order to shout "flash flash" down the phone every few seconds. That was dreadful, I know (at least I think) it's supposed to be stupid, but it's still a shite feature.

I don't mind Greg James but I have to agree, that Flash Flash is crap. I'm surprised they let him do it anyway, for fear of someone blowing their lights

I was driving back from the airport when I heard that abomination. Craig was it today? Or some thick bloke that didn't understand timing, and sounded a bit embarrassed to even be doing it. No wonder.

Not til next week. Had to use up my holidays before the end of the year but my colleague took December off. If we're both off at the same time bad things happen. Net result - I got special dispensation to have the first week of January off instead.

Sysadmin - or bastard operator from hell, I believe.

My colleague and I also get that special dispensation if the worst comes to the worst, but our holiday year ends in March.

Try this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_administrator

Where it says "Related fields" just think "yeah, Munki Bhoy does that too". I'm in a small company. The roles get split up the bigger the company.

And BOFH is basically my job if I were evil and hated everyone. Hence, Bastard Operator From Hell. The link I posted earlier is basically what I think the IT Crowd on Channel 4 should have been.

You'd be surprised actually, it tends to be different every day. That's part of the attraction.

I like to think that we all have our roles in life. Some people never find theirs, others find the wrong one. Me, I've probably got the right one. I certainly couldn't do something like Doctor or Psychiatrist or some other fixing people not computers role. I'm also crap at DIY, so most manual labour jobs (builder, plumber, electrician etc) are beyond me too. But there are other people who are good at those things, so they can do that and I'll fix their computers for them!

You know how everyone thinks you're an expert when it comes to computers just because you happen to have one and as such everyone from your mum to your friends to your mum's friends will ask you for advice? And most of the time you only own a computer and barely know more than they do about the damn things? Well, I get it too, but sometimes I can actually help!

The proof is in the pudding though. It's quarter past midnight and here I am sitting on an internet forum. That's at least a bit geeky, and would indicate maybe I'm quite comfortable on these things!

I'm ranting... What was the question again? Oh... yes, yes I do enjoy it.

Haha, glad to hear it, even if it did take me a while. 8)

I still haven't found my role, mainly because I'm at uni but I enjoyed teaching abroad alot more than I thought I would (I just spent 4 months in the Caribbean teaching English to 6 to 11 year olds.) I'm trying to avoid going into teaching though, mainly because the money isn't fantastic but as a linguist that's always an option.

And so it's half midnight and I'm sitting on an internet forum too, but that's because I don't have to get up tomorrow! Booya! And I'm trying to find stuff to do to fill the void left by quitting Warcraft. Still worth it though.

A mate of mine from uni did something similar. He got bored with the whole computers thing and went off to teach English in Japan. He was there 3 or 4 years before he came back for a bit. He's off somewhere else exploring now. I think he just likes travelling.

I'm fairly certain I'm on here because I'm on my own. While I've got a week off, the girlfriend appears to have wound up working almost every night of my holiday. Seriously, I think she's off Thursday and Friday and that's it. So where I would normally go to bed and watch telly with her at a sensible hour, I'm sitting here on the laptop and my sleep pattern is totally screwed. I definitely saw 4am yesterday.
