So.... Nearly done the first day back at work.

Whats good? Back to all day Moyles. No more boring family conversations about nothingness. No more turkey. More internet time!!!

Whats Bad? Getting up at daft-o-clock. Freaking M1. Knowing thats it now until my snowboarding break in March. Humph.

Is everyone else back to the gridstone today?

Yup and it sucks being back to work.

Good - seeing some work friends and havinga a catchup

Bad - nearly wrote the car off this morning on the ice, choice between hitting the car infront or bouncing the curb... I went for the latter one... survived but steering if off center now, will worry about that another day... I want to be off again!

I haven't been off. Well, I had xmas day and boxing day but that was it. You can't stop theatre.

I'd rather win the lottery between now and Monday and not have to go back. I might enjoy what I do, but it doesn't mean I want all the stress that comes with it, bill paying etc.

Sadly I'm sure I'll be at my desk on Monday morning, and probably on support rota duty. Bleuch.

I'm only commenting on this thread to annoy Topher as usual so.............

GET OVER IT!!

Some people worked all Christmas. Think of Doctors, Nurses, Police, Fire Service, Ambulance service etc they work Christmas Day as well so even I can't better that. I had Christmas Day and New Years Day off and was still at work at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve/Day so those of you who had 2 weeks off and are moaning about it.................Shut the * up!

Over to you to have a go at me now Toph (oh and Foots & Boboff will probably also have a go)

Actually, that's precisely why I'm so bloody bored this week. My girlfriend being one of those shift people (and who was working Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day... well, night) is working the majority of nights this week so she's sleeping during the day and away at night. I'm on holiday and I've barely bloody seen her. And all my friends are back at work.

Great, now I'm sounding like an angsty teenager. I hated that when I was one.

What, exactly, do I need to get over (unless you are talking about my leg)? I said I was pleased to be going back.

S4B wrote:Some people worked all Christmas. Think of Doctors, Nurses, Police, Fire Service, Ambulance service etc they work Christmas Day as well

They certainly do, they do valuable jobs and they know the deal before they take those jobs. You don't go into any of those jobs you just mentioned and expect Christmas off - well, certainly not every Christmas.

S4B wrote:so even I can't better that.

Hahahahaha. That just made me laugh a lot.

Again, you work in retail. You knew how often you would need to work when you took the job. If you refuse to employ enough staff to run the shop properly and therefore need to work extra, that's your own fault.

Will that do?

Yeah, well said Toph. I wasn't in any way moaning about going back to work. I'm a contract worker myself and hence don't get paid anything for holiday/sitting on my arse at home. Would have prefered to be back in last week - for few days, earn some extra wonga, but alas, offices closed over x-mas. I love my job. If I didn't I'd change it. And being a family man these days, if I knew I had to work all over x-mas, i'd also change my job. Daughter more important.

I used to work x-mas day in a posh hotel restaurant, and found it to be a pleasure. Everyone in festive mood, laughing, smiling, mostly drinking - and usually tipping quite well too....!!!

So a very big horray and thank you to anyone who did work over x-mas to allow the other 95% of nation to sit on our fat backsides enjoying family time.... We salute you.

You remind me of my boss..... he works all hours God sends, comes in on weekends, stays late in the evenings... doesn't take lunch. He sits there moaning about how many hours he does, and how hard he works compared to others and that we're all lucky that we get to go home at a decent hour.

There are two problems he has, poor time-management skills.... and no life.

I have only one problem as far as work is concerned though Balls

I am a perfectionist. I have excellent time-management skills and too much of a life sometimes.

I hope people don't think I was moaning cos I wasn't - it does suck not being able to get time off, but I was lucky enough to get boxing day off as I was originally scheduled to work that too, so I was in fact very grateful to get what I had. I didn't go into theatre thinking that I would never get a 2wk holiday over Christmas - in fact I got into it by accident - but I think generally with more shops etc open longer hours, that 2wk break must be getting rarer overall.

I do have to confess though, when people are demanding and short-tempered with us cos their kids don't appreciate the £100+ they have spent on panto tickets and merch and are whining, I do wish that they'd be a bit more grateful for all the work we put in here...but such is life.

I agree Red, I took my daughter to local panto this x-mas... Alladdin. She loved it, but is still of the innocent age where she's thoroughly absorbed by things like that... I know exactly what you mean though, becomes socially unacceptable among friends to admit to enjoying something like that. Which is a shame.

I loved it too!!

We have been going to the panto every boxing day for the last 15 years - its brilliant. Never going to grow out of that one.

I went back to work today & it was actually, alright, which I was quite pleasantly surprised about.

However the lazy f***wits at work have left both Christmas Trees up in our department, they have volunteered me to take them down (even though I put them up this year, one a 3ft6 & one a 6ft) & one said that I put them up so I took them down. I remember that this year.

Anyway they come down when I can be arsed, so that'll be after Easter then
