I wish they'd stop advertising it with his goal from Euro 96. But I might watch it anyway, could be interesting. It's a shame to see such a talented footballer wasting away when he could be teaching his skills to the next generation.

Hopefully he can sort himself out as Maradona did.

Surviving Gazza? What is it, a documentary about his wife?

See, you think you've made a joke there. But yes, yes it is. And the rest of his family.

Fair enough... seeing as you said they used the Euro 96 goal, I thought it must be about him.

Totally agree. I have no interest in or sympathy for someone who was given so many opportunities and so much talent and decided to piss them all away. I read his autobiography a few years back, I thought it was very revealing but not necessarily in the way he meant it to be. His description of the event which he feels (or felt then) is at the root of all his "problems" was meant to leave you feeling sympathetic, but it left me thinking the selfish bastard completely missed the point - and I thought then that unless he can understand that properly and genuinely accept responsibility for what happened he will never be able to look at himself with any clarity. He is - was (but probably still is) - a mountain of self pity and excuses.

Mind you though. That goal against Scotland was a cracker. One of the best I've seen.

Oh wait, my mistake.

I actually misread the headline on the BBC the other day and thought it was about Gazza.

A friend of mine on Facebook joined a group called "Stand up for Gaza" & I misread it at first as "Stand up for Gazza"

Bloody Gazza "I've had a hard life, me" Gascoine. He went from being one of the lads to a complete control freak. At least you knew where you stood with old Bestie - at the bar. Cheers!

I must admit, at the time I had mixed emotions. Mainly "wow, that was brilliant" and "ahh *". It's in my top five best ever goals I've seen though. And it's top of my list of best ever goals I've seen but wish I hadn't.

The best celebrity alcoholic though was & still is Oliver Reed, especially that tale about him in that Irish Pub

I know that's not a nice thing to say, but I don't feel like being nice at the moment, so thought I'd say something that frustrates me. I'd love to read what you're saying as I know you're a lovely person, but can't stomach more than a line or two of your jib. No offence, I love you and I don't regret that time behind Edinburgh Woolen Mill x

Oooh look, I am Beadle's Target de Jour!
