Sorry, I'm half Swedish, and as such ABBA is part of my cultural heritage. Hope you're all having a great time tonight.

"Whaaaaaaay!!!!!"

"Should auld aquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind..."

"You take the high road an i'll take the low road, an i'll be in Scotlaaand beefoooooore yoooou..."

"Oh flower of Scotland, when will we seeee, yer like again?... "

"And I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more, just to be the man who walked a thousand miles to fall down at your door!"

"The bar is open again!"

"Whaaaaaaay!! ... Sambucca?"

All the best folks.

My night was kinda similar.

"Bar's open through the bells!"

"10, 9, 8...vodka coke please...7, 6, 5, 4, 3... same again please...2,1"

"Whaaaaaaay!"

"Why aren't there cheesy Scottish songs being played?"

"* it, let's just drink more. Shots all round?"

All things considered, probably. Just the cheesy songs would have tipped it in your favour. I just pity the poor sods who had to work over it. Well, to a degree - their pay was no doubt bitchin'.

I preferred my Hogmanay.

"One ring to rule them all"

"look, ten to midnight, get Jackie Bird on"

"wow, Spiteri's getting to be an old crap version of Duffy"

"Happy New Year!"

"Right, back to destroying the ring"

"The end - right, get Only An Excuse on from earlier"

"hehe, Boyd doesn't do moving!"

"Bed time"

Seriously, New Year is better when you stay in with your girlfriend and watch DVDs. Last year it was Star Wars 1-6, this year Lord of the Rings trilogy. You get your own drink when you want it, it's warmer, and it's never a disappointment like most.

I've stayed in with your girlfriends at least three times now and to be honest, it's always a bit of a let down.

Mmm hmm.

Bonanzoid wrote:That sounds mental, apart from Jackie Bird. She bugs the tits off me.

Jackie Bird should be assassinated. (Actually, she goes to my gym and she seems alright, but she should stick to the news)

It was a shit ten minutes, but we only did it for the bells themselves. The fireworks at Edinburgh looked good. I'm also sure they screwed up the count down there.

We went out briefly to look at the holiday light show that our village puts on and then we came back and I watched a James Bond marathon on television. All Pierce Brosnan. It was lovely.

I went out. I drank too much... that's about all I remember (that I want to), except I wasn't the only one to drink too much and the DJ (who I know) has a girlfriend who was there (who I don't know) and her best friend's mum is a very good friend of mine... that made me feel a bit old, but Charlotte is 10 years older than me to be fair.

I watched Jool's Hootenanny which was, as always, brilliant. Apparently there needed to be an extra second added to the countdown this year, maybe thats why you thought it had been screwed up Munki?

No, they were out by several seconds. The folks in the street were still at about 3 or 4 in their countdown when the cannon went off.

My boss watched this, he was disappointed - said there were lots of people who he was looking forward to seeing, particularly Annie Lennox, but she seemed past it.

Of course she did - she's considerably older than me for gods sake! She's even older than Madonna I think! I enjoyed how rubbish Lily Allen was, trying to be a proper "musician" with all the legitimate people there (she was utterly awful, well out of her tiny comfort zone and it really showed), but a lot was really good. Adele sang brilliantly, and The Ting Tings were fab. Duffy was good too, improvising a duet with a very pissed Lenny Henry (who probably has a better voice than pretty much anyone who was there, except possibly Ruby Turner).
