I haven't heard it but yes.

The song itself is really good. The Jeff Buckley version in particular is awesome, however Alexandra has just wrecked it.

JLS were miles better than Alexandra at it. Neither of them are as good as Jeff Buckley. Someone should start a campaign to get Jeff the Christmas number one.

Are you, like the 21 year old who sits opposite me, one of those who didn't realise it was a cover?

It is one of the worlds most beautifully written songs.

It would be my second choice for the world's most beautifully written song I think - but it would be close. I actually like the Rufus Wainwright version best - when he did it at Glastonbury it was beautiful.

I just listened to it from Chris' post. I think it's safe to say Leonard Cohen's version is better, Jeff Buckley's version is better and John Cale's version is also better. That version was frankly disgusting.

Do we think the X Factor producers know that it's supposedly about "the hallelujah of orgasm"?

I'm not particularly fond of the song no matter who sings it. Just to clarify that doesn't mean I hate it, just that it does nothing for me. I've never been fond of slow songs. There are a couple I like but as a generalisation I don't like em.

I'd take Firestarter over Hallelujah.

Just a repeat of the video above but testing the YouTube HD embedding

Use the [ youtubehd ]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo4imShE8KM[ /youtubehd ] BBCode if you want to do the same (without the spaces).

As has been pointed out to me, the good thing about x-factor doing this is there's now loads of people out there that are being made aware of the good versions of the song.

I still prefer the Rufus Wainwright. And I want a Rickroll Christmas.

Who the hell is Rick Roll? If Jeff Buckley does get to number 1 it'll
Make for an interesting Xmas chart.

Something to do with trying to get Rick Astley to number one I think.
