Stop trying to be modest your popular / well known same thing in my eyes, look at your website for example its used alot. Anyway a question for you Aled,

What was it like to me Sir Alan Sugar in real life ???
Also keep up the good work, the show has been brilliant of late !! :)

Ah, thank you.

Meeting Sir Alan Sugar was scary in real life - he has no interest in making you feel comfortable around him. Perhaps making you feel nervous is part of his routine?
Thanks for the compliments re the show. If you get a rajar diary - make sure you fill it in! :) I think we need to start a new pass it on compaign for the show in year 6. 5 years in and we still haven't replaced Wogan as the number 1 show (15+ anyway). We've got very close but it hasn't happened yet - I think it's about time this year.

I don't either. I'd really rather like one I think.

So would I, do you know how you get one Aled? Do you have to sign up to a volunteers thing? I checked their web site and couldn't see anything.

Hello Aled!

I've been listening to the show for about 3 / 4 years and for the most part really enjoy it.

I think Dom is Hilarious.

Here's a few questions I have...

When and where did you first meet Mr Moyles, and what were your impressions of him?

Can you do a best of Roy Walker pod cast please? his random intros at the beggining of carpark catchphrase make me laugh... Who writes those? do you ring Roy up everyday to get his contribution?

Listening figures... how are they calculated? how on earth do you know how many people are tuned into radio 1? that's always puzzled me.

I don't like the golden hour, any chance of cancelling it? i usually switch off at 9 on a friday, i release many people like it, but my local radio station has done the 'guess the year' thing for 10 years... hardly cutting edge radio.

What percentage of the texts sent to 81199 are read by anyone on the team?

And have you quit the alcohol after your stint as an alcoholic, or are you hiding it well?

Merry Chritmas and a happy new year to you and the team!

cheers David...

do you like art? check out my website. :D

I like the first question. Be very interested to read a reply to that myself. I can probably guess the rest. There's already been a pretty in-depth discussion about listening figures elsewhere on the board.

Alex, hope you had a nice Christmas.

What did you get?

Are you doing the Surgery full time now?
#369690
Alex? Who the * is Alex?!
#369704
Shouldn't that be Alice. Never had you down as a Smokey fan?

Anyhoo blame Auto-correction on the iPhone. Most times it works in my favour.

It was a parody Andy. Doi.

Wow! There are some questions here!!!!

Top tip for future questions - the shorter the better as I get sidetracked SO easily it's hard to answer long replies! lol!

I REALLY liked him. Our paths only ever crossed out on the road because Moyles had the One Big Belly tour and I was working with the live unit out on the road over the summer so I was always in random places around the UK and I'd meet him and the team, show them the hotel, have a drink with them and do the show with them. So my experience with them was always fun!

Unfortunately best of podcasts can only be what has been broadcast in the last 7 days - so we'd have to have it played on the show - and seeing as CPC has now gone I don't think there's much chance of that :( Sorry. Dave writes Roy's replies, and Chris talks genuinely with them on the show not knowing what he's going to say so although technically they're scripted it's only one sided! Roy records them every few weeks. btw Dave always says he forgets what he writes so he's always laughing along on-air because he forgets whats about to come out of Roy's mouth.

It's EXTREMELY hit or miss! RAJAR are a company that's paid by BBC and commercial radio to make the measurements. Figures come out once every 3 months. They pick a few thousand people give them dairies and ask them to fill in by ticking boxes which shows and radio stations they listen to.

No. Chris loves it.

lizardz23 wrote:What percentage of the texts sent to 81199 are read by anyone on the team?

We have between 5,000 - 30,000 texts a show so I could never give you an accurate figure of the percentage that are read but there's a text screen showing 50 texts in one go and a screen sits in front of Chris, Rach / me, Dave and Dom - with both Dom and Carrie having the screen at their newsdesks in the live lounge so it's a very large percentage.

I detoxed big time AFTER the alcohol experiment, I've now gone back to normal drinking levels - I'm only a drinker on nights out, which might be once a week or fortnight.

Hope that helps

I remember that tour, it was great.

I think you have managed to get the cream of the crop there with the cow puns, Munki - I can't think of any udder ones and believe me, I have given it some considerabull thought!

Yup, this topic has been well and truly milked.

That is very very good news.

Essentially that's what the new year's day show was - 2008, interspersed with several montages of past years (best of the male guests, best of the female guests, around the world in Portugal, Germany and New York etc), which were on the podcasts anyway.
